Ben Haddon

Ben T. Haddon, Jr. of Sunset Harbor, formerly of Raeford, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2012 surrounded by his wife and stepchildren. He was born September 4, 1930 in Hamilton County, Tennessee to the late Ben Terrill Haddon, Sr. and Myrtle Rogers Haddon. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Georgiana Denmon and Margaret Huie. He was a member of Camp United Methodist Church in Shallotte. He was a Korean Veteran, a former member of the Raeford Kiwanis Club and the South Brunswick Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Raeford Masonic Lodge and the Sudan Shrine Temple. During this time he was instrumental in obtaining admission for six children to various Shrine Hospitals. He was a former president of the Brunswick County Fishing Club. Survivors include his wife, Jackie Haddon of Sunset Harbor; a stepson, Mike Prevatte of Sunset Harbor; a stepdaughter, Gloria Moore and husband Robin of Moore County; a sister, Dorothy Karwisch of Waynesville; a step-granddaughter, Sharon Freeman of Augusta, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews and a bevy of friends. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. at Camp United Methodist Church in Shallotte. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Dwight Ross

Dwight Allen Ross, 50, of 169 Angel Drive, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012.
Survivors are: mother, Marie Jones; stepfather, Raymond Jones; siblings, Vincent, Donald, Charles McQueen, Ronald, Herbert, Timothy, Sharon, Caroline Scott, Melissa.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. in Buie Funeral Home chapel in Raeford. Burial will be in Mountain Grove Cemetery.

Viola Davis

Viola Davis, 82, of 1110 Loop Road, died Sunday, February 5, 2012.
Survivors are: husband, Ben Davis JR.; sons, Russell Davis and wife Brenda, and Daniel Davis and wife Gwendolyn; daughter, Cathy Davis and husband James; sister-in-laws, Sallie Davis and Mary Kearms; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and ten step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Thursday, Feb. 9 at 12:30 p.m. in Cape Fear Conference "B" Headquarters with Elder Jerome Maynor. Burial will be at Avery Free Will Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 8 fro 3 p.m.-7 p.m. at Purcell Funeral Home in Southern Pines and Thursday Feb. 9 from 9 a.m.-11a.m. in Avery Free Will Baptist Church

Glennie B. McLauchlin

Glennie B. McLauchlin, 82, of Raeford, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2012.
Survivors are: children, Earline Campbell, Dorothy Meekins, Barbara Scriven, Elwin and Melvin; siblings, Remonia Luster, Thelma Williams, Janice Waddell, and Bessie, Mary, Robert and Lenzo McNeill; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Saturday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. in Silver Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was in church cemetery.

Mary Ann Boone

Mary Ann Boone of 415 Midway Drive died Saturday, February 4, 2012 in her home at the age of 91.
She was born in Hoke County on July 4, 1920 to the late Daniel and Lizar Butler Roberts. She is preceded in death by her husband, William A. Boone.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford, NC 28376.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Parker United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Wilhide officiating.
Survivors include two nephews, Howard Batton and Johnnie "Buck" Batton, both of Raeford; and one niece, Virginia Willis of Raeford.
