Sylvia A. Pilotti

Sylvia Ann Pilotti, 69, of Raeford, formerly of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012 in Southeastern Regional Medical Center, Lumberton.
She was born September 26, 1943 in Philadelphia, to the late Fred Valente and Richetta Funaro Valente.
She was the devoted and loving mother of John J. Pilotti Jr. and his wife Chrissy of Philadelphia, Mike J. Pilotti of Lumber Bridge, and Christine A. Pilotti of Raeford, and her first grandchild, due at the end of October, Gianna Maria Pilotti.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2012 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Rd., Fayetteville, NC 28304
The funeral will be at 3p .m. Saturday, October 13 at LaFayette Funeral Home, with Sister Betty Bullen officiating.
Burial will follow the service at Cumberland Cemetery, Bingham Drive, Fayetteville, NC 28304.

Charles E. Shockley

Charles Edwin Shockley of Raeford died Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital at the age of 80.
He was born in Columbus County on March 9, 1932 to the late Giles Shockley and Minnie Lewellen Shockley. He was a member of the V.F.W., and a member and deacon of the Raeford First Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired from Burlington Industries and the National Guard.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mattielen B. Shockley of Raeford; his daughters, Debra Douglas and her husband, Allen, of Raeford, Kimberly S. Howard and her husband, Joel of Terrell; his brothers, Rufus Shockley of Evergreen, and Thomas Shockley of Fairmont; his sister, Betty Ann Hill of Supply; and four grandchildren, Melanee Howard of Terrell, and Weston, Austin, and Geoffrey Douglas of Raeford.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2012 in the Raeford First Baptist Church-Gatlin Hal.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2012 in Raeford First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Lee officiating. Burial will be in the Raeford Cemetery.

Alice M. Lowe

Alice Marie Lowe, 49, of Raeford, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012.
Survivors are: son, Del'Quince; parents, Bobby Shaw, and Alice Riddick Jr.; sister, Phyllis Sheppard; brother, Robert Shaw; stepsiblings, Charlene Jensen, Tashia Shaw, Adriel Riddick, Nathaniel Brower; and a grandchild.
The funeral will be held Saturday, October 20 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 in the Worship Center in Southern Pines.
Viewing will be Oct. 19 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Simon Funeral Home in Southern Pines.

Mary E. McNeill

Mary E. McNeill, 80, of Raeford, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012.
Survivors are: daughters, Camilla, Casandra, Gean, Na-Jean and Sharon; sons, Clifford and Chris; sister, Gloria; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren
The funeral will be held Saturday, Oct. 13 at 11 a.m in McLauchlin Chapel AME Zion Church. Burial will be in church cemetery.
Viewing will be today 1 to 7 p.m. today at Buie Funeral Home in Raeford. Visitation from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Willie Dickerson

Willie Dickerson, of Raeford, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012.
Survivors are: children, Mary Benson, Pearline Billingsley, Ray Charles, Brenda, Glenda, Terry and Bruce; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Saturday, October 13 in Arlington, Tenn. Burial will be in Robinson Cemetery in Mason, Tenn.

Mary Elizabeth Baker

Mary Elizabeth Teal Clark Baker of Raeford died Tuesday, October 9, 2012 in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital at the age of 84.
She was born in Hoke County on August 8, 1928 to the late Jesse Lonnie Teal and Flax Kelly Teal. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Ellen and her grandson, Chris Clark.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny Baker of the home; her sons, Paul Clark and his wife Diane of Mountain City, Tennessee, Bryan Baker of Greensboro, Johnny "Tater" Baker Jr. of the home; her daughters, Sue Clark Breece and her husband, Alan of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Donna Brock of Raeford; her grandchildren, Adam Clark and his wife, Lauren of Wilmington, Tanya Smith and her husband, Chad of Lehi, Utah, Tracy Warburton of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Elizabeth Baker of Raeford, Ethan Brock of Raeford; and eight great grandchildren.

Staff Sgt. Donna Johnson

Staff Sergeant Donna Johnson, 29, of Raeford died Monday, October 1, 2012 while on patrol in Khost City, Afghanistan.
She was born in Moore County on May 10, 1983 to Philas Ray Johnson and Sandra Guiton Johnson. She was raised in Raeford and joined the North Carolina Army National Guard in 2006. She was a member of the 514th Military Police Company based in Winterville, North Carolina and had previously deployed to Iraq from 2007 to 2008. Her awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal posthumous, the Purple Heart posthumous, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Iraq Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device, 2, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal posthumous, North Carolina Meritorious Service Medal posthumous, 1, Combat Action Badge, Driver and Mechanic Badge, Bar, Driver-W (for wheeled vehicles), Combat and Special Skill Badge Basic Marksmanship Qual Badge, Bar, Weapon: Rifle (Inscription: Rifle), Expert, Overseas Service Bar, 2.

Fannie Mae Pennell

Fannie Mae Pennell, age 88, of Holden Beach died Monday October 8, 2012 at her residence.
She was born in Mecklenburg County on December 16, 1923 and was the daughter of the late Joseph Robert Armstrong and Fannie White Armstrong. She was a devoted member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church where served on the kitchen committee for many years. She was a member of the Holden Beach Beautification Club since 1990.
She is survived by her husband, Shuford Pennell of the home; two sons, Vann Pennell and wife Cathy of Southport, and Eddie Pennell and wife Cassie of Clinton; two grandsons, Chad Pennell and Brett Pennell; and granddaughter Sydney Pennell.
The funeral will be held Thursday October 11, 2012 at 11am at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Pastor Timothy Lynch officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at the Raeford Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chad Pennell, Brett Pennell, Lloyd Tucker, Larry Edwards, Dean Hall, and Bob Boone. Honorary pallbearers will be,Faye Tucker, Bennie Hall, Rachel Boone, and Jane Edwards.

James Earl Locklear

James Earl "Buddy" Locklear, of 8071 Red Springs Road was born on September 22, 1938 and departed this world on October 7, 2012 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton.
He has left to cherish his memory, three daughters: Lisa (Willie) Locklear, Connie Locklear and Allison Locklear West all of Red Springs; one son, Jay Dee Locklear (Tonya) also of Red Springs; three granddaughters, Samantha Paige Locklear, Alisa Nicole Locklear and Jasmine Danielle West; two grandsons, William Micheal Locklear and Steven Andrew Locklear; two great-grandsons, Micheal Thurman Locklear and James Albert Locklear; and an honorary great-granddaughter Tiffany Paige "T-Bug" Hammonds. He also leaves behind seven brothers, Bonford (Helen) Locklear, Jerry (Patricia) Locklear, Brantley (Barbara) Locklear, Don (Alice Dale) Locklear, Raymond Rae (Diane) Locklear, Billy Dean Locklear and Bob Locklear; one sister, Judy Williams all of Robeson County; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home Chapel, in Red Springs.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Mt. Elim Baptist Church in Red Springs, the Rev. Jimmy Bullard and the Rev. Chris Webb officiating.
