Ronald S. Gordon "Meat Man" of 422 Gordon Road, Raeford, died Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Quail Haven Healthcare Center of Pinehurst at the age of 78.
He was born June 30, 1936 to the late John Currie Gordon and Wilma Smith Gordon.
He is preceded in death by his wife Ethel Evans Gordon, his son, Michael Gordon and a brother Robert Harold Gordon. He was a member of the Raeford Evangelical Methodist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by three daughters, Sharon Thompkins and husband Jerry of Leland, Rhonda Cole and husband Richie of Jackson Springs, and Robin Gordon of Raeford; one son, Ronald (Buddy) and wife Angela of Raeford; grandchildren, Heath and Michelle Gaddy, Jesse Gaddy, Paula Thompkins, Travis Thompkins, Silas Cole, Dylan Cole, Joshua and Amber Gordon, Michael and Kristina Gordon, and Douglas Fipps and Paula Fipps; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous others consider him their Paw Paw.
The visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Tuesday August 26, 2014 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 Raeford Evangelical Methodist Church 379 West Palmer Ave. Raeford, with Pastor Billy Joe Brady and the Rev. Elizabeth Forester officiating.
Interment will be at the Raeford Cemetery.
