Laura F. Ferguson

Laura F. Ferguson, 85, of 524 Vass Road, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014.
Survivors are: brothers, Clyde, Charles, James and Felton.
The funeral will be held Saturday, May 3 at 2 p.m. in Freedom East Presbyterian Church. Burial will bein McLaughlin Cemetery in Bowmore Community.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 2 from 1 to 7 p.m. at Buie Funeral Home chapel in Raeford.

Coy Jackson Jr.

Coy Jackson Jr. of Raeford died Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital at the age of 68.
He was born in Robeson County on September 24, 1945. He is preceded in death by his father Coy Jackson, Sr. and his brother, Mitchel Jackson. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Pittman Grove Baptist Church and retired from Burlington after 44 years of employment.
He is survived by his wife Barbara T. Jackson of Raeford; four sons Marvin C. Jackson (Angela) of Aberdeen, James Keith Jackson (Angela) of St. Pauls, Steven L. Jackson (Tammy) of Raeford, and Jason E. Jackson (Shawn) of Aberdeen; his mother Louise Jackson of Raeford; a brother James Earl Jackson of Shallotte; two sisters, Patsy Hess of Raeford, and Nancy Baker (Arthur) of Raeford; a god-daughter, Ashley Blue of Myrtle Beach; two god-grandchildren; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Ephesus Baptist Church with the Rev. Stewart Wells and the Rev. Ken Williams Officiating. Burial will be in Highland Biblical Gardens.

Mamie L. Leggett

Mamie Lee Leggett, 70, of 802 W. Southern Ave., died Saturday, April 26, 2014.
Survivors are: daughters, Wanda, Tammy and Erica; sister, Eleanor Isaac; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 30 at 3 p.m. in Piney Grove MB Church. Burial in McAllister family cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 29 from 1 to 7 p.m. at Doby Funeral Home in Raeford.

Clyde McInnis

Clyde McInnis, 99, of Palmetto, Florida, formerly of Raeford passed away Friday, April 25, 2014.
He was born in Hoke County in 1914 and moved to Manatee County in 1965. He was the owner of Snead Island Crab and Fish House and was a member of the Masons for more than 75 years. He is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Lessie McInnis and son Billy McInnis.
He is survived by his sons, Clyde McInnis, Jr., John McInnis, and Steve McInnis; his daughter, Margaret (Susie) Trudeau; grandchildren, Clyde "Billy" McInnis, Melena McInnis, Chris McInnis, Tyler Trudeau, Brittany Trudeau, Adam Trudeau, Shawna McInnis, Karen Boone, Mitch McInnis, Kathy Harrison, and Shawn McInnis; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Ave, Raeford.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 3 [new time] p.m. Saturday at Dundarrach Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

James F. McPhaul

James F. "Jimmy" McPhaul of Raeford died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at UNC Hospital at the age of 64.
Mr. McPhaul was born in Cumberland County to the late John W."Buck" and Johnnie Belle Sugg McPhaul on July 31, 1949. He was a graduate of both Hoke County High School and Pembroke State University, where he received a BS in Elementary Education.
Jimmy served over 25 years as president and co-owner of McLauchlin Hardware and Lock Company until the sale of the business in 1997. He was also a member of the Raeford Fire Department, a coach for his son's sports teams, and was a longtime member of Raeford Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon. An avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman, he loved spending time in the woods of Hoke County and the waters around Holden Beach,NC.
Survivors are: two sons, James F. "Jay" McPhaul Jr. (Jessica) of West Hollywood, CA, Jeffery C. "Jeff" McPhaul (Lauren) of Tampa, FL and their mother, Wanda C. McPhaul of Raeford; his brother, John W. McPhaul (Ann) of Shallotte; his sisters, Carol M. Sample of Newton, Patricia M. Bingay (Tom) of Lewisville; and one grandson, Declan Gossett McPhaul of Tampa, FL.
The memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 29 at at 2:00 p.m. at Raeford Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Michael L. McGehee officiating.
Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April, 29, 2014 at the John C. Ropp Fellowship Hall.

Nathaniel Walker

Nathaniel "Tank" C. Walker of Raeford died in his home on April 26, 2014 at the age of 83.
He was born in Wayne County on January 23, 1931 to the late William Wright Walker and Mablem Capps Walker. He was a member of the Galatia Presbyterian Church, and proudly served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his son, Nathaniel Raymond Walker of New Jersey; his daughters, Eileen Marie Walker of Florida, Patricia Ann Mazza of New Jersey; his brother William Earl Walker and his wife Gloria Walker of New Jersey; his sister, Grace Walker Gillis and her husband William K. Gillis of Fayetteville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be will be Monday 7-9 p.m.. at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Ave, Raeford.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday with full military honors at Galatia Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Shuford White officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
