Hattie McLaughlin

Hattie McLaughlin, 73, of 324 Birch St., died Monday, July 21, 2014.
Survivors are: sisters, Hazel Jones, Mary Virgil, Carolyn Easterling, Clara Graham and Sheffie Turner; and brothers, Jasper, Terry, Yancey and Milton.
The funeral will be held Friday, July 25 at 3 p.m. in McLauchlin Chapel AME Zion Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation, an hour prior to the service at the church.

Laytosha Readdy McNair

Laytosha Readdy McNair, 35, of 233 Twin Creek Dr., Raeford died Wednesday as the result of an automobile accident in Fayetteville.
She was born September 1, 1978 in Cumberland County. She is survived by her parents Julius and Vernella Handon Anderson of Raeford; one son, Gabriel McNair of the home; and two sisters, Deshanda Readdy and Allonease Readdy of Raeford.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Cape Fear Conference B Headquarters, 10225 Fayettevillle Road, Raeford. Burial will follow in the Cumberland Memorial Gardens, Fayetteville.
Visitation will be Tuesday, from 3-7 p.m. at the Powerhouse of Love and Faith, Inc., 4919 Murchison Road, Fayetteville. The family will receive friends at other times at the residence where they will assemble in preparation for the funeral procession. Arrangements are by the Haskins Funeral Home, Goldsboro.

Elizabeth M. Brown

Elizabeth Matthis Brown, 85, of Red Springs, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
She was born in Sampson County on May 26, 1929 to the late Byrant Newkirk Matthis and Manie Clyde Knowles Matthis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Neill Shaw Brown. She was a public school teacher of 34 years in Sampson and Robeson County schools before retiring. She was an active lifelong member and former moderator of Red Hill Universalist Church.
She is survived by her daughter Sheila Brown Evans of Red Springs; a grandson Patrick Chrisjohn Evans III of Red Springs; a sister Anita Ann Matthis Merritt of Wilmington; and several special cousins, nieces and nephews, many lifelong friends and her recliner buddy, Rufus.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Red Hill Universalist Church 7031 Taylor's Bridge Highway Clinton.

Hazel Harrell

Hazel Marie Tutor Harrell, 84, of Raeford, died July 19, 2014 at Open Arms Retirement Center.
She was born April 11, 1930 in Harnett County to the late Edgar Tutor and Lula Tyndall Tutor. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Lee (Bob) Harrell. She was a member of Raeford First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Robert L. Harrell, Jr. (Yvonne) of Southern Pines; her daughter Lynne H. Madden (Mark) of Lumberton; her brother Donald Tutor of Hope Mills; her sister Sara T. Grinstead (Jake) of Orlando, Florida; four grandchildren, Mandy Luck (Jonathan) Lesley Craven ( Josh), Jessica Lewis ( Brian), Morgan Madden; and two great- grandchildren, Cullen Craven and Landry Craven.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2014 at Crumpler Funeral Home 131 Harris Ave. Raeford.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Raeford First Baptist Church, 333 North Main Street Raeford with the Rev. Tom Lee officiating. Interment will be in the Raeford Cemetery.
