Catherine B. Oldham

Catherine Brewer Oldham of 4450 Laurinburg Road Raeford died Saturday, December 20, 2014 in her home at the age of 86.
She was born in Hoke County on August 2, 1928, to the late James Taylor and Blanche Brewer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eulus E. Oldham Sr. and two daughters, Betty Lynn Douglas and Lois Mitchell.
She is survived by five sons, James E. Oldham of Raeford, Billy Oldham of Rockingham, B. Lloyd Oldham of Raeford, Eulus E. Oldham Jr. of Raeford, and Thomas Oldham of Raeford; two daughters, Patricia Ann Campbell of Raeford, and Sandra D. Lunsford of Raeford; 14 Grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2014
The funeral will be held at the Church of God of Prophecy, 913 West Prospect Ave. Raeford at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 with the Rev. Randall Snead officiating.
Burial will be in the Raeford Cemetery.

Frances J. Crawford

Frances Jeanette "Williams" Crawford, 66, of Raeford, formerly of Dunn, passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, in Fayetteville.
She was the faithful daughter of the late Michael and Leola West Williams of Dunn.
Frances was a graduate of Dunn High School. She was God's gift to our family and country. She served in and retired from the U.S. Army. Her basic training was at Fort McClellan, Ala. She served at Fort Lee, Va., Fort Holabird, Md., Fort Bragg, Shape Hos Belgium, Korea and in Grenada with Operation Urgent Fury in 1983. After retirement, Frances was elected VFW's District 8th Commander in 1998 to 1999 and served as the service officer at the VA Hospital in Fayetteville for 8 years.
Frances received the Korea Defense Service Medal, AFEM Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Two Overseas Service Medals and an Army Service Ribbon. She was a true supporter of the military forces and always went the extra mile for them. She traveled across the U.S.A. to VFW meetings and to visit many sick veteran friends.
Survivors are:  brothers John, Mike and Martin Williams; sisters, Sue Williams, Mary Davis, Mattie Gregory, Anne Sherrill and Sallie Norris.
Her family wishes to express our gratitude to the many friends that helped Frances throughout her life and especially the ones who helped her through her battle with cancer. We extend our love to her longtime friend, Dan Armagost.
A military service will be held Saturday, Dec. 20  at 2 p.m. in Skinner & Smith Funeral Home chapel, 905 Erwin Road, Dunn. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn. Family will receive friends prior to service from noon to 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to any Veterans Service Organization of your choice.

Gregory L Burke

Gregory L. Burke, 59, of 336 Burke Road, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2014.
Survived by: Brother, Monroe Burke Jr.
The funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. in Avery Chapel FWB Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.



Jordan A. Smith

Jordan Adaran Smith, 3 year old son of Joshua, of Raeford, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2014.
In addition to his father, he is survived by: His godparents, Terence and Monique Gaines, who cared for him; siblings, Lexis, Isaiah and Jaiden; and grandparents, Wanda, Taylonn Coley, Sharon and Ronnie McSwain

The funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m.  in Pinecrest Funeral & Cremation Services in Hope Mills. Visitation, an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Lannie A Horne

Lannie Ada Horne, 95, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday, Dec., 12, 2014.
Mrs. Horne was born Feb. 4, 1919, in Dillon, S.C., to Alexander and Zilphia Scott.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Horne, and three children, Jerry, Margaret and Kenny.
Survivors are:  her three sons, Ronald Horne (Sandra) of Lumber Bridge, Stanley Horne of Fayetteville and Craig Horne of Hope Mills; three grandchildren, Dana Horne, Christy Horne and Kevin Horne; and three great-grandchildren, Leanna Carter, Joshua Thomas and Destiny Carter.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairmont City Cemetery



Woon Sun " Doris" Grubb

Woon Sun "Doris" Grubb, 80, of Raeford, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2014.
Survivors are: children, Steve, Jerry, Jimmy, Diane Schanck.
Graveside service will be held Wed. Dec. 17 at 9 a.m. Wednesday in Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery.

Nettie Crowley

Nettie Deese Crowley of Aberdeen died December 15, 2014 at the age of 87.
She was born on March 22, 1927 in Union County to the late Eleby and Elsie Connell Deese.
She was a founding member of the Corner Stone Baptist Church and was an active member of the Ashley Heights Baptist Church. She also was a past member of the Eastern Star, Southern Pines Chapter (Magnolia chapter #26) She and her husband Daniel Crowley Sr. owned and operated the Clam Box and later opened the Park-N-Eat in the early sixties.
She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel Crowley and her son Daniel (Danny) Crowley, Jr.
She is survived by two daughters, Terry C. Scott and her husband Chuck of Aberdeen; Sherry Lucas and her husband Mike of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; a sister Frances Crayton of Concord; five grandchildren, Dee Crowley and his wife Lynn, Cristy Scarboro and her husband Michael, Kimberly Scott and her husband Will, Kevin Scott and his wife Sheryl, Danaka Bunch and her husband Lee; and eight great-grandchildren, Katlyn Scott, Heath Scott, Chesney Crowley, Hunter Scott, Colt Scott, Parker Crowley, Luke Scarboro, and Emmy Scarboro.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Ashley Heights Baptist Church, Aberdeen.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Donnie Gillis officiating.

Randall Ashburn

Randall Ashburn of Raeford died Monday, December 15, 2014 in St. Joseph of the Pines at the age of 83.
he was was born in Surry County on December 21, 1930 to the late Arthur and Nannie Ashburn. He was a member of the Raeford United Methodist Church. He was the manager of Raeford Oil Company before retiring. He was also a retired volunteer firefighter with the City of Raeford Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Loriece L. Ashburn of Raeford; his daughter, Kathy A. Archer (Charles) of Holly Springs; his son, Randy D. Ashburn (June) of Concord; his sister, Betty Jane Upchurch (Julian) of Durham; and four grandchildren, Christopher Archer, Kaitlyn Archer, Dillon Ashburn, and Nicole Ashburn.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. at the Raeford United Methodist Church on Friday, December 19, 2014.
The funeral will begin at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary with the Rev. Dr. Stephen Castle officiating. Burial will be in the Raeford Cemetery.
