Harold " Halley" Chason

Harold Alexander "Halley" Chason,76, of 1421 Chason Road Lumber Bridge, died Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Chason was born June 21, 1938 to the late Harold James Chason and Leona McFayden Chason.Survivors are:  his wife Myrtle Johnson Chason of Lumber Bridge, two daughters, Wanda Chason and Cathy Chason of Lumber Bridge, his son Harold Chason, Jr., one grandson, Shawn Chason of Lumber Bridge, two brothers, Danny Chason and Ronald Chason of Lumber Bridge, two sisters, Peggy Smith of Raleigh, Mary Elizabeth Shelton of Mint Hill.
Visitation will be 6-8pm Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Crumpler Funeral Home 131 Harris Ave. Raeford.
The funeral service will be 3pm Sunday, June 21, 2015 Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel.

William "Bill" Parrish

William "Bill" Ray Parish, 71, of Aberdeen, passed away at the Moore Regional Hospital on Wednesday, June 17.
Born in Dunn, N.C. on January 2, 1944, he was the son of the late James and Marion Parish.
Bill was a U.S. Army Veteran having served his country during the Vietnam era.  He was the founder and owner of Parish Sign &, Service, Inc. in Raeford, NC where he dedicated the last 33 years.  Bill was a 39 year Master Masons and a member of Moore County Shrine Club.  He loved being surrounded by his family and friends, fishing, and spending time at Lake Tillery.
Bill was the loving husband of Linda McCoy Parish, the loving father of Renn Parish Harris and her husband Adam and Dede Parish Frye and her husband Michael.  He took pride in being the Papa of Marilyn, William, and Caroline Harris, and Jack and Mac Frye.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Chapel in the Boles Funeral Home, 425 West Pennsylvania Ave. Southern Pines, on Monday at 1:00 P.M.

Larry J. Moore

Larry Jerome Moore, 32, of Raeford, died Friday, June 12, 2015.
Survivors are:mother, Janet; brothers, John Oliver III, Jason and King; sister, Janetta; and grandmother, Lizzie Blue.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 20 at 1 p.m. in J.W. Turlington School. 
Viewing will be held Friday, June 19 from 1 to 7 p.m. at Buie Funeral Home chapel in Raeford.

Infant Lester U. Davis IV

Little blue-eyed angel Lester Ulysses Davis IV was born on Monday, March 2, 2015 and was called to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. His family was blessed with his infectious smiles, his frequent hiccups and sweet squeaks in the time they shared. He was charismatic and his flirty little looks won the hearts of all the nurses and everyone else that cared for him. "Lil Lil Les" experienced hand holding, singing from his family, hugs and kisses (especially those of the Eskimo and butterfly variety from his mommy), and being told "I love you" an uncountable amount of times. Though his time with us was short he will have a piece of our hearts for eternity.

He is preceded in death by paternal great-grandparents Lester U. Davis Sr. and Donald A. Ayers, and maternal great-grandparents Gujey and Dadod and Dorothy Condo.

He is survived by his parents Lester U. Davis, III and Amber Lynn Atkison; brother Chayton U. Davis;  paternal great-grandparents Audrey and Sal Maldonaldo and Carol Ayers of Bath, New York; maternal great-grandparents Betty and Max Atkison of Bertram, Texas; paternal grandparents Jan and Lester U. Davis, Jr. of Raeford;  maternal grandparents Marlene Cederman of Greer, South Carolina and Gregory Atkison of Burnet, Texas; and aunts and uncles Ashley L. Davis of Fayetteville, Crissy and Preston Tracy of Caribou, Maine, and Max Atkison of Lyman, South Carolina.

His life celebration will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford, NC.

Brenda Carol Darby

Brenda Carol Darby, 55, of Raeford died Monday, June 16, 2015 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.

She was born August 30, 1959 in Fayetteville.  She was a past member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents Harrison Jack Holt and Lillie Alma Holt, and her brothers Timothy and Jack Holt. 

She is survived by three daughters, Brenda Michelle Shepard of Red Springs, Tiffany Darby of Raeford, and Crystal Renee Darby of Raeford; 10 grandchildren, Brittany Renee Ayers, Chris Shepard, Jasmine Leigh Ayers, Clifton Lee Melvin III, James Christian, Alex Ayers, Katie Ann, Justin Hobgood, Jr., Julian Serrano Cuevas, Jr., and Lexie Anabella Serrano; and  two great grandchildren, Adriana Alexandra Ramirez, Raul Mikell.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2015 at Raeford Cemetery.

Earl McDuffie

Earl McDuffie, 83, of Raeford died, Monday, June 15, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Franklin County, Georgia on May 3, 1932 to the late Earl McDuffie Sr. and Eunice Hanley McDuffie. His ancestors arrived in Hoke County in the late 1790's.

The McDuffie family moved to Raeford in 1968. He was employed with Hormel Company before he retired. He opened the Edinborough Resturant in 1981.  The restaurant is still in operation at this time, by the McDuffie family. He was elected and served as a city councilman for 15years, and on the Board of Health for nine years. He was a member of Raeford United Methodist Church and American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army. He loved golfing, fishing and the people of Hoke County.

He is survived by his wife, Willaree Murphy McDuffie of Raeford; his daughter Carol M. Chambers (Gary) of Clayton; four sons, Mike McDuffie (Robin) of Chapel Hill, Chris McDuffie (Jenny) of Raeford, John McDuffie (Christie) of Calabash, and Patrick Earl McDuffie of Raeford; three sisters, Betty Jean Pethel, Frances Cook, and Joan Freeman, all of Kannapolis; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Thursday, June18, 2015 at Raeford United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. at Raeford United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stephen Castle officiating.

Interment will be in the Raeford Cemetery.

Lois Scarboro

Lois Scarboro, 95, of Raeford, died Monday, June 15, 2015 at her home.

She was born October 20, 1919 in Caldwell County, North Carolina to the late Walter Suddreth and Pearl Raby Suddreth. She was also preceded in death by her husband Lacy Scarboro Sr. and  her son, Kenneth Scarboro. She was a member of Parker United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, Carroll Scarboro and his wife Joan, her daughter Betty Skipper, four grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held later.

George T. Blue

George Talmadge Blue of Raeford died Saturday, June 13, 2015 in his home at the age of 62.                

He was born in Fayetteville on September 26, 1952 to the late James and Mabel Saunders Blue. He was a member of Galatia Presbyterian Church, a volunteer and board member with the Rockfish Fire Department.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Mueller and her husband Mark of Raleigh; two grandchildren, Evan and Reaghan Mueller; four brothers, Ted Molchan (Wanda) of North Carolina, Don Blue of Florida, Henry Blue (Heath) of South Carolina, and David Blue (Chrissy) of Tennessee; and a sister Sherry Carter (Donald) of Tennessee.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2015 in the fellowship hall of Galatia Presbyterian Church.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Galatia Presbyterian Church with R.E. Herman Autry officiating.
