Mildred M. Gessler

Mildred Margaret Gessler of Fayetteville died Monday, July 13, 2015 at her home at the age of 81.

She was born in Ossining, NY on February 5, 1934 to the late William and Betsy McAnally. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Gessler and her brother, William McAnally.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Marie DeGennaro and her husband, Frank; her sons, John Gessler and his wife, Judy, William "Bill" Gessler and his wife, Tamara; her brother, John McAnally; her sisters, Francis Palmer and her husband, Richard, and Norma Piovane; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one special extended family member considered to be a son, John Markey.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Sunday July 19th at the home of John and Judy Gessler, 3194 Pisgah Dr, Fayetteville. The family will receive friends at the home following service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.

Katie M. Childress

Katie Margaret Childress of Raeford died in her home on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the age of 91.
Mrs. Childress was born in Hoke County on May 9, 1924 to the late John Duncan Buoyer and Sallie Howell Buoyer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren G. Childress. Mrs. Childress was a lifetime member of the Raeford First Baptist Church.
Survivors are: her daughters, Debra C. Duncan and her husband, Rusty of Red Springs, Cindy Childress of Raeford; her brother, Clayton Buoyer of Raeford, her sister, Bennie Lee Melvin of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Sophia Duncan, Laura Duncan, and John Duncan.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford.
Graveside service will be Sunday, July 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Raeford Cemetery with the Reverend Tom Lee officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Raeford First Baptist Church, 333 N. Main Street, Raeford, NC 28376

 

 

 




Raymond Willis

Raymond Foster Willis of Raeford died Thursday, July 16, 2015 in Morrison Manor at the age of 64.
Mr. Willis was born in Scotland County on February 10, 1951 to the late Albert W. Willis and Alma Humphrey Willis. He was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Survivors are: his wife, Lori L. Willis of Raeford; his sons, Logan F. Willis of Raeford, Raymond Brian Willis (Leslie) of Laurel Hill, Timothy P. Willis of Southern Pines, Jason E. Willis (Michelle) of Marston; his brothers, Albert W. Willis, Jr of Wagram, Barry H. Willis (Kathryn) of Laurinburg; his sisters, Patricia Kersey of Laurinburg, Peggy Willis of Dallas, Naomi Burdine of Laurel Hill, Sylvia Smith of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Hillcrest Baptist Church.
The funeral will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Reverends Steve Bennett and Toby Neal officiating. Burial will be in the Raeford Cemetery.

 



William D. Evans

William Douglas Evans, of Raeford, died Tuesday, July 14, 2015.
Survivors are: sisters, Ella Mae McMillian, Lucille and Margaret.
The funeral will be held Saturday, July 18 at 2 p.m. in Crumpler Funeral Home in Red Springs. 
Viewing will be held Friday, July 17 from 1 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary Caulder

Mary Louise Prevatte Caulder, 83, of Raeford, died Monday July 13, 2015 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst, NC.
Mrs. Caulder was born July 11, 1932 in Robeson County to the late James Pink Prevatte and Sadie Berline Parnell Prevatte. She was preceded in death by her brother Alton R. Prevatte. She was a member of Raeford Evangelical Methodist Church, where she was also an active member of the choir.
Survivors are: her husband of 62 years John C. Caulder of Raeford, her son, Terry W. Caulder of Raeford; 2 daughters, Debra C. Edwards (Joseph) of Jackson Springs, NC; Lisa C. Eubanks (Raphael) of Raeford; 5 grandchildren, Elizabeth Poirier (Matt), Mollie Edwards, Sarah Bureau (Daniel), Kyle Goodman (Chelsey), Zachary Goodman, 3 great-grandchildren, Montgomery Goodman, Easton Bureau, Hudson Poirier, 1 brother, James Prevatte of Lumberton;  1 sister, Margaret Branch (David) of Lumberton.
Visitation will be 7-9 pm Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Crumpler Funeral Home 131 Harris Ave. Raeford, NC.
The funeral will be 4 pm Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Raeford Evangelical Methodist Church with Pastor Billy Joe Brady officiating.
Interment will be in the Raeford Cemetery.

Mary Ann Bunnellls

Mary Ann Cummings Bunnells of Raeford, died Friday, July 10, 2015, at the age of 72.
Mrs. Bunnells was born in Robeson County, on July 28, 1942 to the late Reverend Luke Cummings and Eva Bell Holmes Cummings. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy A. Bunnells and a brother Arnold Cummings. She was a member of Rock Grove Baptist Church where she served faithfully.
Survivors are:  sons, Donnie Bunnells (Jennifer) and Carson Bunnells (Sol); a daughter, Sheila Bunnells (Mark); 4 brothers, Sam Cummings ( Rita), Mark Cummings, David Cummings, Walter Cummings (Sherry), 2 sisters, Ruth Alice Scott (Jimmy), Martha Gonzales (Ray), sister in law, Ann Cummings and 6 grandchildren.
A visitation will be held 6-8 pm Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Crumpler Funeral Home 131 Harris Ave. Raeford.
The funeral service will be held 2pm Wednesday, July 14, 2015 at Crumpler Funeral Home with the Reverends, Ronald and Amos Bryant officiating.
Interment will be in the Rock Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Emerita S. Vega

Emerita Sierra Vega, 80, of Raeford, died Tuesday, July 7, 2015.
Survivors are: sons, Reinaldo Candelaria and Roberto Candelaria.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, July 14 at 7 p.m. in Reeves Funeral Home chapel in Hope Mills. Burial will be at a later date in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico. Visitation, 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

 



Frances Locklear

Frances Locklear, 77, of Red Springs, died Thursday, July 9, 2015.
Survivors are: companion, Weldon Clark; daughter, Ellen; son, Jamie Clark; siblings, Pandora, J.T., Wendola, Barbara, Sandra, Patricia, Zola, Dianne, Scartha, Steve; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Sunday, July `12 at 3 p.m. in Hoke County Holiness Church. Burial was in church cemetery.
