Anna T. Watson


Anna T. Watson of Raeford passed away peacefully in her daughter's home on February 11, 2018. 
She was born May 14, 1925 in Garmisch, Germany, a proud Bavarian.
She met her late husband, James C. Watson, in the early 1950's in Garmisch where he was stationed. She immigrated to the U.S. in May of 1955 and married James in Baltimore, Maryland. She became a U.S. citizen in New York City in 1956. 
They traveled the world during his U.S. Army career. While stationed in Italy they had their only child, Caroline. They retired to Fayetteville in late 1968. 
She worked at Thalhimers in Cross Creek Mall for years and then Avis Rent-A-Car at the Fayetteville Airport. She was a Red Cross Volunteer at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii and Womack Army Medical Center, Ft Bragg. 
Anna enjoyed her many friends while drinking coffee and eating pastries at Hanseat European Bakery for many years. 
She is survived by her daughter Caroline Nicol and a few cousins in Garmisch and Regensburg, Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents Georg and Anna Glatz, husband James C. Watson and son-in-law Nic Nicol. 
A funeral Mass will be at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, Raeford on Tuesday, February 27th at 11 a.m. There will be cake and coffee (her favorite) in the social hall immediately following the mass. 
In lieu of cut flowers, a potted plant may be donated to be planted in Anna's garden, or donations can be made to the Hospice Foundation of Hoke County in Anna's name at P.O. Box 1584, Raeford, NC 28376.
