Margaret N. Beachnau

Margaret Nowland Beachnau passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 in Raeford. She enjoyed 76 years of life. She was a resident of Lansing, Michigan where she had a successful career in bank fraud investigations for many years. She was a member of Saint Therese and Saint Ann Catholic Church in Lansing, and in Fayetteville, respectively.

She was a mother to all with an open heart, a ready meal, and a place to sleep for many neighborhood friends; as a result, she was called "Mum" by most who knew her as a way of showing respect. She dreaded conflict and always sought the path to reduce tension in every situation. She had a ready laugh, a captivating smile, and a twinkle of mirth in her eyes. She loved animals and had a particular fondness for her dogs. Currently her friend "Bo", a doberman pinscher that adopted her, is looking for her, pacing about, and pining her not being there.

She was married to William (Bill) Beachnau for 29 years. He preceded her in death in 2007, as did her great-grandson Killian Vik in 2016.

She is survived by her children, Thomas (Sandra) Matt, James (Amy) Matt, Karen (Richard) Brois, George (Yolanda) Matt, William (Michelle) Matt; her grandchildren, Ashley (Matt) Schutte, Lauren Farhat, Andrew Matt, Alexander (Grace) Matt, Emily (fiancé Marcus Payne) Matt, Jason (Erin) Binkley, Stephanie (Mark) Smith, Richard Brois, William and Jessica Matt, Nicholas, Avery and Owen Matt; her great-grandchildren, Harper and Brecken Schutte, AnnaGrace and Ashling Binkley, Shaun Vik, Brandon Smith; her stepchildren and their families, Dana (Carmen) Beachnau, Renee (Bobby) Sessions, Rochelle Beachnau, Gordon (Lori) Beachnau; and her siblings, Janice Draper, James (Jeffria) Bourdeau, Keith (Michelle) Montresor, and Michael (Kim) Bourdeau.

A Catholic Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Fayetteville.

She would be pleased to have any memorial donations made to a local animal shelter or the humane society.
