Virginia McColl

Virginia Monroe McColl died March 31, 2018 with her family by her side. Born in Hoke County during the Great Depression she knew about surviving in hard times, losing her mother at the age of five and caring for her blind father. She was one of six children born to Thomas Henry Monroe and Lillian McMillan Monroe. She enjoyed researching her genealogy with her sister and discovering that her Scottish lineage settled in the Cape Fear River basin area which is now Pope Air Force Base. When the government secured their property, they moved their home to Hoke County. Through her heritage she gained her membership in "Liberty Point Daughters of the American Revolution" and the "Society of the Descendants of the Colonial Clergy."
She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Rockfish where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School and was a member of the Women's Missionary Union. She was also a past member of the Home Extension Club. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Henry Thomas McColl and a grandson, Thomas Reed Jones; 2 brothers, Thomas Henry Jr. and James Alexander; and 2 sisters, Ana Bella and Frances Elizabeth Monroe. She is survived by her daughters, Carrie M. Posey (Butch), Linda M. Hall (Robert) of Autryville, Susan Diane McColl, Kimberly M. Hopson (Vaughn) of Clayton, and sons, Henry Thomas McColl Jr. (Malinda) and John Kevin McColl (Michele). She is survived by 8 grandchildren, Christi Posey Boahn, Jennifer Posey Powell, Caleb and Jason Jones, Adam and Jonathan McColl, Virginia and Christopher Hopson and 5 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Cody, Hunter, Logan and Braden. She is also survived by her sister, Katherine N. Shuman of Orlando Fl., several nieces and nephews and her faithful companion, Dottie. 
Visitation will be held Monday, April 2, 2018 from 7-9 pm at Crumpler Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 11:00 am at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 3219 Lindsay Road, Raeford NC, Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Delauris Ellis

Delauris Ruby Beasley Ellis of Raeford passed away with her family by her side on March 26, 2018 at the age of 84. 
She was born in Hoke County on March 5, 1934 to the late Chester B. Beasley and Ruby Bowyer Beasley. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Lindberg "Lindy" Ellis and her brothers Chester B. Beasley and Jack Beasley. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She retired from Burlington Industries in 2000 after 47 years. She also worked for 10 years with Forever Kids Daycare. 
She is survived by her daughter Gail E. Jackson and her husband David of Fayetteville; her son, Lynn Ellis and his wife Lisa of Raeford; two grandchildren, Allyson Jackson-Steen and her husband Chet, and Lucas Ellis and his wife Frankie; five great-grandchildren, Caden, Easton, Ellison, Charlie and Cash; three brothers, Sam Beasley and his wife Patsy of Winston-Salem, Bucky Beasley and his wife Pat of Raeford, Wayne Beasley and his wife Carol of Raeford; and five sisters, Joyce Bostic of Raeford, Betty Simmons and her husband Jessie of Fayetteville, Barbara Daniels and her husband Earl of Raeford, Helen Jackson and her husband William of Raeford, and Mickey McNeill and her husband Tom of Fayetteville. 
A visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Hillcrest Baptist Church. 
The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Toby Neal officiating. 
Burial will be in the Raeford Cemetery.

Jeffrey Davis

Jeffrey Davis was called to his heavenly home on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the age of 46. He spent his last days at Morrison Manor, Hospice of Scotland County.
He was born April 3, 1971 to the late Jill Jackson Davis and Bobby Davis Sr. of Lumber Bridge. He is preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Davis Jr., grandparents Benny and Edna Jackson and grandpa Jeff Davis. 
He graduated from Hoke County High School in 1989. He was a self-taught carpenter and took pride in his work. He loved to read and enjoyed nature and the beauty of God. 
He is survived by his loving grandma, Ardenia Davis of Lumber Bridge, great aunt, Reeta Baker, aunts, Bertha Mae Pandure, Janice Howard, Brenda Price and Charlene Jackson, uncles, Ronnie Davis and David Jackson, and many cousins.

Jack Campbell

Jack Campbell of Raeford passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the age of 91.

He was born on November 28, 1926 to the late Milton Campbell and Mary Howell Campbell. After retiring from Burlington Industries, he enjoyed spending time at home with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Letrice Jackson Campbell; brother, James Milton Campbell Jr.; and his sisters, Prudence Campbell Walters, Alberta Campbell Currie, and Thetus Campbell Mercer. He was a member of the Raeford Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his daughters, Rhonda C. Ritter and her husband, Blaine of Carthage, and Karen S. Campbell of Raeford; and his grandchildren, Daniel and Justin Ritter of Carthage.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford from 2-3 p.m. 

A graveside service will be held at 3:15 pm in the Raeford Cemetery.

Michael "Andy" Miller

Michael Andrew "Andy" Miller formerly of Raeford passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the age of 31.

He was born in Cumberland County on April 18, 1986 to Michael Miller Sr. and Sheryl Beasley Kelly. He was a loving husband, father, son, and brother. He enjoyed racing, spending time with his family, fishing, and building. He was a wonderful father, and dearly loved his children. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, O'Dell Miller and his aunt, Cindy Creech.

He leaves behind his wife, Danielle Lane of Eagle Springs; his two children, Damian and Grace; his father, Michael Miller and his wife, Monika of Lexington; his mother, Sheryl Kelly and her wife, Kristina of Worcester, Massachusetts; his two sisters, Ashley Nuhaj and her husband, Rahim of Winthrop, Maine, and Lindsey Miller and her husband, Seth of Raeford; his half-sister, Destiney Reinholt of Lexington; his half-brother, Josh Miller of Lexington; and his grandparents, Parnell and Wanda Locklear of Raeford, and Patricia Miller of Raeford.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 26, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Crumpler Funeral Home-Raeford.

A memorial service will follow the visitation beginning at 8 p.m.
