Thomas A. Potter

 CMSgt. Thomas "Tom" Angus Potter, Retired U.S.A.F., 92, died Sunday, April 28, 2019.

He was born in Hoke County on April 27, 1927 to Alton and Katie Chisolm Potter.  He was married to the late Annie Lou Smith Potter.  For 32 years, he proudly served in the United States Air Force and protected his country and her allies on multiple deployments during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.  His valor and skill was recognized with numerous decorations.  After his retirement from the Air Force, he taught in the aircraft frame maintenance program at Wayne Community College for 25 years.  He was a member of the Raeford Masonic Lodge #306 A.F. & A.M.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine McDougal.

He is survived by his daughters, Terry Mears and Rhonda G. Potter; son, Thomas David "Dave" Potter; brother, James Potter; grandchildren, Jason Mears, Jennifer Potter Smith and Chris Potter; two great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton with Scottish and Masonic rites and military honors.
