J.C. Meismer

JC Meismer of Raeford died Tuesday, December 28, 2021, surrounded by his family at his home at age 84.
He was born in Cabarrus County on January 2, 1937 to the late Jess C. Meismer and Evelyn Knight Meismer. 
He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Oak Island VFW and Raeford United Methodist Church. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1961 from Pfeiffer College. He enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time with his family at the beach.
He was preceded in death by his sister Carolyn Brown.  
He is survived by his wife, Nora L. Meismer of Raeford; two sons, Terry Meismer and wife Becky of Wilson, Virginia,  and Ronald Meismer and wife Katrina of Rockwell; three stepdaughters, Donna Strother of Holden Beach, Vicky Scarboro of Carthage, and Tammi McMillan of Raeford; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2022 at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel, Raeford, with the Rev. Joshua Eom officiating.
The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home.

Justin Silvey

Justin Caleb Silvey of Fayetteville died Friday, December 24, 2021 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center at age 35.
He was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on November 18, 1986. He served in the U.S. Army and was currently serving with the North Carolina National Guard. He lived a life filled with shenanigans and debauchery, bringing his exuberant personality and infectious laugh wherever he went. He brought joy and light to whoever he meets with such tight bear hugs.
He is survived by his fiancĂ©e Heather (Sadie) Macmoyle of Fayetteville, his daughter, Aryia Silvey of Louisiana, his mother Larr Silvey Gabor and her husband John of Indiana, and a brother, Johnny Gabor of Indiana. 
A private memorial service will be held later.

Chris Tew

Mrs. Chris Tew of Fayetteville died in her sleep on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at age 77.
She was born in England on June 15, 1944. 
She was preceded in death by her sons, David Alan Tew and Sean Martin Tew. 
She is survived by her husband of 53 years John Tew of Fayetteville, J.T. Tew Jr. and his wife Jamie of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Tony Tew and his wife Wendy of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Doreen Nieuwenhuis of Fayetteville; and a brother, Robert Matthews of Summerset, Kentucky. 
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel, Raeford, with Pastor Roger Burns officiating.

Robert Lentz

Robert H. (Bobby) Lentz of Raeford died Friday, December 3, 2021, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst at age 75He was born in Talladega, Alabama on August 4, 1946 to the late Robert Boyer Lentz and Mary Lucille Payton Lentz.

He was a member of the Raeford Evangelical Methodist Church and the Raeford Masonic Lodge # 306.

He was preceded in death by his brother William (Bill) Lentz.

He is survived by his wife Marie M. Lentz of Raeford; a daughter, Sandy Michelle Lentz of Raeford; two sons, Michael Jeffery Lentz of Raeford, and Steven Wayne Lentz and his wife Tammy of Raeford; a stepson, Eddie Smith and his wife Jane of Suffolk, Virginia; three stepdaughters, Cynthia Eckhoff of Raeford, Janelle Thompkins of Raeford, and Kimberly Tate and her husband Tim of Ashland, Virginia; a stepbrother, Gary Taylor and his wife Sally of Salisbury; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at the Raeford Evangelical Methodist Church, 379 West Palmer Street, Raeford.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Raeford Evangelical Methodist Church with Pastor Roger Burns officiating.

Burial will be in the Raeford cemetery.

Pamela R. Warwick

Pamela Rose Warwick of Aberdeen died Monday, November 29, 2021 in her home at the age of 60.
She was born in Scotland County on July 16, 1961 to Ellis "Juice" and the late Margaret Wright Harris. She graduated from Hoke County High School and was known to have a heart of gold. She loved cooking and spending time with her family and enjoyed trips to the beach. She dearly loved her nieces and nephews and cared for them as if they were her own.
She is survived by her husband Michael of Aberdeen; her father, Juice Harris of Raeford; Melissa Holland and her husband, David of Raeford; Renee Strickland and her husband, Tommy of Raeford; her nephew, Clay McQuage of Fayetteville; her niece, Megan Warwick and her husband, Paul; her nephew, Cody Strickland of Raeford; great-nephews, Chase and Wyatt.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 5, 2021, in the Raeford Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Flora Scarboro

Flora M. Scarboro of Raeford died Friday, November 26, 2021 at age 79.
She was born on December 10, 1941to the late William Edward Miller and Grace Pate Miller. 
She enjoyed going to the beach with her family and working in her yard.
She was preceded in death by her husband Martin Scarboro Jr., and her siblings, Bill Miller, Odell Miller, and Carolyn Hinds.  
She is survived by her children Terry W. Scarboro of Raeford, Donna S. Chavis and her husband Dr. Ray Chavis of Wagram, and Jeff R. Scarboro of Raeford; three grandchildren ,Heather Scarboro of Raeford; Dr. Kristen Chavis of Fuquay Varina, and Coby Chavis of Wilmington; a sister, Louise Creech of Red Springs; and her fur babies Duke and Cora.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Crumpler Funeral Home.
The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Roger Burns and Pastor Ricky Brewer officiating. 
Burial will be in the Raeford cemetery.

Timothy Guin Sr.

Timothy Mark (Tim) Guin Sr. of Robbins, formerly of Raeford, died Thursday, November 18, 2021 at age 55.
He was born in Cumberland County on December 6, 1965 to the late Roy Guin and Marie Wilson Gilbert. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Billy Guin and Barry Guin.
He is survived by his daughter Anita Guin (Jason) of Robbins; a son Tim Guin Jr. of Greensboro; a grandson, Silas Arnold of Robbins; the mother of his children Beverly Burns of Southern Pines; a brother Donald Guin and his wife Lynn of Raeford; and his sister-in-law, Sandy Guin of Aberdeen.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the Raeford Cemetery.

Randy F. Huff

Randy Frank Huff of Aberdeen died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill at age 66.
He was born Dec. 10, 1954, at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst to the late Denver Ralph Huff Jr. and Ella Imogene Sinclair Huff.
He was a graduate of Hoke County High School and Fayetteville Technical College.
He was a master plumber, homebuilder and woodworker. He was an avid fisherman and golfer. He loved the North Carolina Tar Heels football and basketball teams.
His quick wit, temper, and off-color language were beloved by all. He was a creature of habit, especially with holidays and family gatherings. Favorites included good food with family and friends, and coffee and breakfast at Steak and Eggs with old cronies and friends.
He was a lifetime member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church, where he also served as an elder. He was always actively involved in various activities and the work of the church.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathy Huff; his son, Josh Huff; four brothers, Ralph Huff and wife, Linda, of Fayetteville, Ronald Huff and wife, Charlotte, of Aberdeen, Ricky Huff, of Fayetteville, and Rusty Huff, of Aberdeen; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held at Shiloh Presbyterian Church Sunday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Shiloh Presbyterian Church, Pine Hill Fire Department (Hoke County), Boys and Girls Club of the Sandhills, or the charity of your choice.

Janet Reyes

Janet LaVonne Walters McLain Reyes died Saturday, November 20, 2021. She was a gracious and loving person who was loved by all.
Born February 1, 1963, in Miami, Florida to Allen L. Walters and Joanne (Cole) Walters, she lived the majority of her life in North Carolina. She had been a career nurse, working at Moore County Hospital, and as a traveling nurse. She excelled as a surgical nurse and was a great believer in the Universe and all of its wonders. 
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Joan V. Walters. 
She is survived by husband Luis Reyes, daughter Melissa McLain and son Patrick McLain, all of Seven Lakes; brother Tony M Walters and his wife Anita of Hampton, Virginia; and niece Shelly (Simpson) Berhannan of Melbourne, Florida.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the National Pancreatic Foundation.
A graveside service will be held at a date to be announced.

Roger Williams

Roger "Cricket" Williams of Raeford died Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at age 71.
He was born in Richmond, Virginia on January 19, 1950 to the late Robert (Willie) Williams and Frances English Williams. He served in the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of Galatia Presbyterian Church. He was the owner and operator of the Bargain Barn in Raeford, and was a member of the North Carolina-Illinois Hunting Club.  He was a wonderful husband, father, and Pappy.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years Wanda S. Williams of Raeford; a daughter, Amber W. Banta and her husband Tim of Wilmington; a grandson, Everett Banta of Wilmington; a sister, Kaye McDonald and her husband Warren of Fayetteville; a brother, Ronald Williams of Fayetteville; his extended hunting club family, Johnny Hubbard, Bill Hubbard, Clyde Webb, Steve Printz; and two special friends, David Daughtey and Duane Gilliam.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2021, at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday November 13, 2021 at Galatia Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Brett Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors.

Guy A. Taylor

Guy A. "Cowboy" Taylor of Raeford died Friday, November 5, 2021, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst at age 67.
He was born in Lane, South Carolina on November 24, 1953 to the late Red Taylor and Bertie Taylor. He was preceded in death by his sister, Tootsie Taylor. His hobbies were working on cars, woodworking and singing while driving his truck. He got his nick name Cowboy because one never saw him without his boots and cowboy hat. 
He is survived by his wife 24 years Cathy Taylor of Raeford; his children, Carolyne Howard of Charleston, outhitting Carolina, Jeff Ledbetter of North Charleston, Mary McCusker and her husband Daniel of Savanah, Georgia and Eleanor Taylor (Michael McCarron) of Raeford; six grandchildren, Joseph Howard and his wife Lena, Edward Howard and his wife Valerie, William Howard and his wife Africa, Mookie Howard and his wife Kim, Kayla McCusker and Daniel McCusker; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenny Taylor and his wife Sue of South Carolina.
A private memorial service will be held later. Crumpler Funeral Home of Raeford is serving the family.

Charlotte H. Davis

Charlotte Holt Davis of Southern Pines, 95, diedy Monday, November 1, 2021, at her home surrounded by family.
She was born in Moore County on January 9, 1926 to the late William E. Holt and Robbie Mason Holt. 
Her love of children led her to establish one of the first licensed daycare centers in North Carolina. It was there where she earned the name Mama Charlotte, and that her advocacy work to get all daycares licensed began.
was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Rockingham
Up to her very last week, Mrs. Davis remained sharp and opinionated and had daily phone calls with her kids, grandkids, and sisters. 
She was preceded in death by her husband of 77 years, Ernest Woodrow Davis Sr.
She is survived by a son, Ernest W. (Woody) Davis Jr. and wife JoAnne of Southern Pines; a daughter, Linda Davis Covington of Southern Pines; three grandchildren, James Edwin (Ned) Covington III and wife, Laura, Shannon Davis Viall and husband, Russell, and Bradley Davis Covington and wife, Laura; five great-grandchildren, James and Matthew Covington, Ella, Gretchen and Norah Viall; and two sisters, Patricia (Patsy) Holt Steadman of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, and Ann Holt Clark of Raeford.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021at the Raeford Cemetery.
The family will receive friends after the service at the gravesite.

Judith Mosko

Judith (Judy) Ann Phillips Mosko of Manassas, Virginia, formerly of Raeford, died  Monday, November 1, 2021 at age 75.
She was born in Lumberton on February 8, 1946, to the late Felix Phillips and Mamie Graham Phillips. She was employed with JC Penny's in Fairfax County, Virginia before she retired.  
She is survived by her husband of 54 years William Michael (Bill) Mosko of Manassas; a daughter Jamie Annette Mosko of Manassas; a son, William M. (Mark) Mosko of Manassas; two grandchildren, Ashley Cooper of Charlotte, and Danille Mosko of Manassas; two brothers, George Phillips and his wife Lanita of Sanford, and Richard Phillips and his wife Wanda of Raeford; and five sisters, Pauline Williams of Asheboro, Mary Hobson of Asheboro, Barbara Rosser of Sanford, Martha Hales and her husband Lawrence of Raeford and Rita Gardner and her husband William of Raeford. 
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Crumpler Funeral Home, Raeford.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday November 7, 202 at the Raeford United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Joshua Eom officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Biblical Gardens.

Darnell Morgan

Darnell Morgan of Aberdeen died in his home on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at the age of 62.
He was born in Robeson County on November 29, 1958. He attended Hoke County Schools. Following graduation, he found his calling driving trucks across America. He enjoyed horseback riding and fishing. During the '70s, he took his passion for music one step farther and became a D.J. at the Sandspur in Raeford. His family will miss his joyful spirit. He had a passion for gardening, as well as tending to his Koi pond.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Frances Brewer.
He is survived by his wife, Shannon of Aberdeen; his children, Darnell Frances Morgan, Kenneth Daniel Morgan, Christopher Darnell Morgan, and Christal Oocha; his sisters, Alice F. Morgan and Lora Ann Sampson; his brothers, James Earl Morgan, Walter Morgan, Jackie Brewer, and Jerry Sampson; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Crumpler Funeral Home-Aberdeen, from 3-5 p.m.

Carl D. Hinzy Jr.

Carl Douglas Hinzy Jr. of Raeford died in his sleep at his home on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at age 56.
He was born in Laurinburg on November 30, 1964. He graduated from McColl High School in 1984 and served in the U.S. Marines Corps from 1984 until 1998.
He was preceded in death by his father Carl Douglas Hinzy Sr. 
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Michele Hinzy of Raeford; a daughter, Jessie Collins of Raeford; his mother, Maxine H. Pell and her husband David Pell of Florence, South Carolina; his siblings, Jackie Hinzy and his wife Cindy of Confluence, Pennsylvania, Tammy Davenport and her husband Michael of Rocky Mount,  Jimmy Hinzy of Florence, South Carolina, and Melissa Haywood and her husband Donnie of McColl, South Carolina.

Rando Tyler

Mr. Rando J. Tyler of Raeford died Friday October 15, 2021, at UNC Chapel Hill Hospital at age 33.He was born in Lumberton on January 8, 1988. He served in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer in the 171st division. He was a loving husband, father, son, and brother. His passion was fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle.He is survived by his wife Joy Tyler of Raeford; three sons, Rando Tyler, Roy Tyler, and Rick Tyler, all of the home; his mother Joan Tyner and his stepfather Barry Tyner of Raeford; his paternal grandparents, Robert and Frances Tyner of Raeford; bonus mom, mama Jan Woodell of Pembroke; his father Rico Tyler of Lumberton; a brother, Carlos Tyler and his wife Angela Tyler of Fairmont; a sister, Santanna Tyler-Byrd and her husband Michael Byrd of Lumberton; his best friend, Richard Blue of Raeford; 13 nieces and nephews and a special niece he inspired to follow in his footsteps, Shayna Tyler of Jacksonville.Visitation will be held 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Crumpler Funeral Home, Raeford. Gary Conoly

Gary Neil Conoly of Raleigh, formerly of Raeford, died Thursday October 14, 2021 at age 65.
He was born on December 3, 195, in Greenville, SC. 
He is preceded in death by a son Garrett Conoly, a brother, John Ed Conoly, a sister, Leah Conoly, and a nephew Evan Russell. His passions were baseball, doing crossword puzzles, disco dancing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by a daughter, Rachel Conoly (Michael Martin) of Raeford; a son, Damien Conoly (Hanna Maulden) of Merced, California;  three grandchildren Scarlette Woodham, Isabella Conoly and Beatrix Conoly; his father, Jimmie Conoly and his wife Joanne of Pinehurst;, his mother, Frances Jo Moye and her husband Rommel of West Palm Beach Florida;  a sister Vicki Russell and her husband Mike of Wilmington; a brother Kenneth J. Conoly (Kerry O'Neal) of Davidsonville, Maryland; a stepsister Dina Robbins of Denver, Colorado; two nieces Nicole Russell Psomas and her husband Grant of Wilmington, and Destinee Smith of Washington D.C.; and four nephews Carl, Nicholas, Malik and Spencer Williams all of Raleigh and Fayetteville.
A graveside memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021at Antioch Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Ethan Elder

Ethan Christopher Elder, 15, the middle child of five, died October 11, 2021. He was born to Christopher and Wendy Elder on February 25, 2006 in Wilmington. He shared a love for guns and knives with his father. He would proudly volunteer to help his mother with cooking. He enjoyed playing video games with his sisters, cheering in victory. He would show his older sister his drawings of his favorite anime characters. He played basketball with his Papì and played pretend with his Nana. Ethan undeniably loved the Lord, evidenced in every aspect of his life: the way he talked about the Word, how he reasoned when discussing God, even how his room has been littered with verses and notes. 
He is survived by his father and mother Christopher and Wendy Elder of Parkton; sisters Caetlyn, Noelle, Elizabeth, and Kloey; and grandparents Jesse and Rita Gutierrez, of Santa Maria, California  grandfather John Elder of Orcutt, California; 
Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Southview Baptist Church in Hope Mills.
The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Brad Lynch officiating.
Burial will be in the Raeford Cemetery.

William McClendon Jr.

William E. "Bill" McClendon Jr. of Raeford died Monday, Oct. 11, 2021.
Born in Albermarle on Dec. 31, 1944, he was the son of the late Willaim E. and Victoria Lambert McClendon.  He had proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.  He was stationed at the Hercules Missile Site in Korea until his honorable discharge from active duty.  He settled in Fayetteville and soon found a home at Grace Baptist Church and also found his future wife there.  On August 6, 1967 he married Norma Jean Lanier.  The two moved to Charlotte and soon started a family.
He earned his bachelor's degree in Engineering from N.C. State and worked for the NC DOT for many years.  He had been an engineer overseeing Scotland and Montgomery counties.  The family would move to Aberdeen in 1978 before settling in Raeford where they became members of the First Baptist Church of Raeford.
He had been a Post Commander of the local VFW and was also a Mason and member of the Shriners. He also volunteered at the NC Baptist Children's Home and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Jean Lanier McClendon.  He is survived by their children  Melanie Cifers, husband Daryl, William "Billy" McClendon III, wife Amy, Charles Daniel McClendon, wife Heather, and Natalie McClendon.  He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Cayleigh, Cassie, Charlie, Madison, Sydney, Harley and Kylie.  He was the brother of Jere Lee McClendon, Susan Parsons and the late Bobby McClendon.
A celebration of his life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Raeford Wednesday, Oct. 13th at 3 p.m.  The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1-3 p.m.  A graveside ceremony with Military Honors will be held at Cumberland Memorial Gardens, 4509 Raeford Rd., Fayetteville on Friday, Oct. 15th at 2 p.m.

Donna Holland

Donna Jean "Mama Jean" Holland of Southern Pines, formerly of Raeford, died Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital at age 86.
She was born in Winston-Salem on May 23, 1935 to the late Robert Milton McNeill and Janet Story McNeill. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, James Richard McNeill, and Robert Milton McNeill Jr. 
She was a member of Antioch Presbyterian Church where she was an Honorary Life Membership recipient. She was the co-owner of Raeford Kindergarten and the owner and operator of Raeford Play School before she retired. She not only loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, but also loved and cared for many children in Hoke County. 
She is survived by her husband of 64 years Fred J. Holland of Southern Pines; two daughters, Robin H. McDuffie and her husband Mike of Pittsboro, and  Donna H. Lewis and her husband Mack of Pinehurst; two sons, David Holland and his wife Melissa of Raeford, and Neill Holland and his wife Jennifer of Raeford;  eight grandchildren, Leigh, Kate, Franklin, Stephen, Jeremy, Taylor, Carmen, and Chase; eight great-grandchildren, Mason, Laney, Molly, Audrey, Jack, Olivia, Braylon, and Macie; and a sister, Mary Ann Hartman and her husband, Larry of Advance. 
A memorial service will be held at  p.m. on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Antioch Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Pastor Jim Smith and the Rev. Dr. David Hudson officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the gravesite.

Bette P. Jones

Bette Parker Jones of Raeford died Monday October 4, 2021 at her home at age 86.
She was born in Bladen County on August 3, 1935 to the late Manley Thomas Parker and Gladys O'Neil McKee Parker. 
She was a member of Sandy Grove United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Whiteford Jones.
She is survived by a son Rodney M. Jones of. Henrico, Virginia; a brother, Larry Parker of Fayetteville; and three sisters, Carolyn Parker of Hope Mills, Judith McKee of Fayetteville, and Sandy Horne of Shallotte. 
A graveside memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Sandy Grove United Methodist Cemetery with the Rev. Josh Tester officiating.
Visitation will be held after the service at the graveside.

Barbara Jackson

Barbara Stephens Jackson of Fayetteville, formerly of Raeford, died Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Cape Fear Valley Hoke Hospital at age 63.
She was born in Cumberland on March 17, 1958 to the late Douglas Stephens and Isabel Grimes Stephens. She was an avid gardener and will be dearly missed by her family.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Johnny Stephens, Helen Davis, and Peggy McMillan.
She is survived by her husband Billy Joe Howell of Fayetteville; two daughters Amanda J. Jackson Lee and her husband David Lee of St. Pauls, and Kimberly Ann Jackson Holmes of Fayetteville; a stepdaughter Melissa Daniels of Fayetteville; six grandchildren, Brandy, David, Alexis, Jamie, Halie, and Codie; two great-grandchildren, Jason and Micah; two brothers Douglas Stephens II of Raeford, and Clifford Stephens and his wife Barbara of Raeford; and a sister Deene Tighe and her husband Edward of Conway, South Carolina.
Visitation will be held 2-3 p.m. on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford.
The funeral will follow at 3 p.m. with her nephew Chaplain Douglas Stephens III officating. Burial will be in the Tabernacle Baptist Church Cemetery in Rockfish.

Lois Dodson

Lois Lavonne Mitchell Dodson of Raeford died Friday, September 24, 2021, at her home at age 66. 
She was born in Shelby, Missouri on August 3, 1955, to the late James Franklin Mitchell and Frances Irene McLean Mitchell. She was a beloved wife, mother, and nana. Her greatest joy was being a nana.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Palmer T. Dodson of Raeford, two sons, Christopher Manor (Michelle) of Hope Mills, and Matthew Dodson of Raeford, a daughter, Angela Dodson (Kelly) of Hampstead, four grandchildren, Dylan Manor, Dakota Manor, Kyla Dodson and Kensley Dodson, and one great grandson, Bentley Manor.
A private memorial service for the family will be held at later date.

Kevin K. Locklear

Kevin Kirk Locklear of Laurel Hill died Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the age of 34.
He was born in Moore County on June 26, 1987. After he graduated from Scotland County High School he worked
for St. Joseph of the Pines. His passion for flowers and gardening led him to begin Locklear's Creation. It allowed him
and his spouse to share their love for interior and floral design. He loved his family and spent the last few years
working with Deb's cleaning service, a family-owned business. During that time his infectious personality made a huge
impact on all of their clients. His heart was as big as his smile. He was willing to give anything to help those he
loved no matter the cost. He enjoyed time at home with the love of his life and enjoyed his gardens and dog, Zeek.
He found comfort in listening to the waves at the beach and eating good home cooking.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert, his grandmothers, Mandy and Dorothy, grandfathers Daniel and David,
uncles Harold and Gary, and aunt Carolyn.
He is survived by his husband, Eric of the home; his mother, Sylvia Lowery-Taylor, and her husband, Paul of Wagram; his brothers, Stephen and Joseph of Wagram, Gregory of Aberdeen; his nephew, Rory; stepsister, Ashlynn of Sanford; uncle, Ray and his wife Lisbeth of Raeford, and stepfather, Kenneth Small of Gibson.
The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Turning Point Worship Center 16433 US
Hwy 15 501 Aberdeen from 3-5 p.m. A memorial service will follow the visitation.

Dianne L. Danét

Dianne Lynne Danét died Sunday, September 19, 2021 in Manor Care at age 73.
She was a sweet and wonderful lady who spent most of her life taking care of her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She loved meeting new people. Her signature perfume was "Daisy" by Marc Jacobs. When home she spent her time reading murder mysteries while relaxing with her two cats. She loved all animals including a mockingbird she fed, who loved sitting outside her bedroom window singing each morning. She loved traveling and eating out when she could. She was a top-notch cook.
She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Beal and her husband, Gerald of Laurel Hill, Angela Fezza and her husband, Andy of Castle Rock, Colorado, Janette Danét and her wife, Krystyn of Aberdeen; her sons, Gregory Danét of San Antonio, Texas, Nicholas Danét and his wife, Danielle of Fort Eustis, Virginia; a sister, Annette Gergen of Houston, Texas; her grandchildren, Kristin, Cory, Gabriel, Geri, Luis, Royce, Autumn, Cody, Kaitlin, Connor, Karina, Cambria, Catalina, Jacob, Ivy, Hailey, Kaitlyn, Coleson, and Calista; and great-grandchildren, Isabel, Annabelle, Dylan, Elijah, River, Rhett, Clark, Alyssa, Xander, Violet, Julius, and Alicia.
A memorial mass will be held at 9 a.m. on September 28 at St Anthony of Padua. Inurnment will be held following the mass.

Jennifer J. McFadyen

Jennifer Jean McFadyen, 54, of Raeford, died September 22, 2021, at First ealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, surrounded by her family. 
She was born January 17, 1967 in Gouverneur, New York. She graduated from Hoke County High School in June, 1985. She earned her Practical Nursing Education at Fayetteville Technical Community College in August of 1989. She continued her education and earned an associate degree in Applied Science to become a Registered Nurse at Central Carolina Community College in September of 1997. 
JeShennifer was an avid reader, and had beautiful handwriting skills. She had a huge heart and a laugh that was contagious. Growing up she always wanted to be a nurse and she was great at it. She was loved by many aunts, uncles and cousins in upstate New York.
She is survived by a son, Jonathan Cory McFadyen (Madisyn Wallace) of Raeford, a daughter, Lauren Ashley Miller and husband Nicholas Ryan Miller of Fort Bragg; her parents, Caroline May Peck and David William Peck of Raeford; two sisters, Rebecca Marie Bies and husband Charles Lawrence Bies of Raeford, and Caroline Ann Hatchell and husband Ronnie Coleman Hatchell II of Raeford; a niece, Jessica Marie Bies of Raeford; three nephews, Joshua Lawrence Bies and his wife Kristen Louise Bies of Stedman, Noah Evan Whitaker of Raeford, and Caleb Lee Whitaker of Raeford; and a dog, Tinkerbell, and cat, Gizmo.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Ave. Raeford with Pastor Kenneth Williams officiating.

Julian Butler

Julian David Butler Sr. of Raeford died surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital at the age of 87.

He was born in St. Pauls on July 31, 1934 to the late W.J. "Joe" Butler and Naomi Butler. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Alyssa Butler, two brothers, William J. Butler Jr., and Dr. James E. Butler. 

He served in the US Army from 1956 until 1960. He was a member of the Raeford Presbyterian Church where he served on many committees and was an Elder Emeritus. He was also a member of the St. Pauls Jaycees. He was a Scoutmaster of Troop 404 in Raeford where he earned the Silver Beaver Award from the Cape Fear Council. He retired from Cape Fear Farm Credit as branch manager. He also retired from Eden Farms where he was a director with the building of Hoke/Robeson Cotton Gins.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joann McCormic Butler of Raeford; a son, David Butler and his wife Cheryl of Southern Pines; three grandchildren, Kristina Dennis and her husband Markus of St. Pauls, Hannah Butler of Southern Pines, and Joshua Butler of Southern Pines; one great-granddaughter, Paislee Ray-Dennis of St. Pauls; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Raeford Cemetery with CRE Herman Autry officiating.

Teresa McCraney

Teresa Lynn McCraney of Raeford died Friday, September 10, 2021 at age 60.
She was born in Delaware on October 28, 1960. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert David McCraney.  
She is survived by two daughters, Tanya L. Wright and her husband Daniel of Raeford, and Amanda M. McCraney of Raeford: a son, Adam C. Van Allen of Stedman; seven grandchildren, Damion, Scarlet, Christopher, Darren, Tr'e, Amaya and, Jayden; a great-granddaughter, Everly; sisters, Connie Lindsay and her husband Donald of Raeford, Dianne Sinclair, and her husband Warren of Delaware, and Debra Weaver of Delaware; and a dear friend and cousin, Janet Medeiros of Delaware.
