Ricky Johnson

Richard (Ricky) Lee Johnson Sr. of Raeford died Monday, Feb. 8, 2021 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center at age 60.
He was born in Pinehurst on November 26, 1960 to the late Rosa Lee Guin Johnson and Lexie Smith Johnson. He was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by a daughter, Crystal J. Posey and her husband Kurt of Raeford; three sons, Ricky Johnson Jr, Eric Johnson and Joseph Johnson, all of Raeford; the mother of his children Lynn Johnson of Raeford; 14 grandchildren, Shiann, Breane, Trey, Alana, Chance, Jocelynn, Ava, Savannah, Emma, Hailey, Kurt Jr., MiKayla, McKinsey, and David; a great-grandson, Demarco; three brothers, Wayne Johnson and his wife Liz, William Johnson and his wife Becky and Eddie Johnson, all of Raeford; and two sisters, Helen Johnson and Carolyn Ross and her husband Marty all of Raeford.
Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2021 at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford and at other times, the home of Crystal and Kurt Posey, 407 North Main Street, Raeford.
The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Raeford Cemetery. Crumpler Funeral Home of Raeford is serving the family.

Antionette A. Patterson

Antionette A. Patterson. 56, of Raeford died Sunday, February 7, 2021.
A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Avery's Chapel Church Cemetery, Raeford. Interment will follow. Viewing and visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2021 at Purcell Funeral Home, Southern Pines.

Margerene McRae

Margerene McRae, 86, of Raeford died Sunday, February 7, 2021.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Serenity Memorial Park Cemetery, Raeford. Interment to follow. Viewing and visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2021 at Purcell Funeral Home, Southern Pines.

Alex Schwarcbher

Alex Schwarcbher (Retired Command Sergeant Major) died February 7, 2021 at 74 years old. He was born November 7 1944, in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
He enlisted in the Army in August of 1963 and retired in August 1990. During his service in the U.S. Army, he served in combat with the 82nd Airborne Division in the Dominican Republic, the 101st Airborne division in the Republic of Vietnam and in two combat tours with Special Forces as a Recon Team Leader and Enlisted Company Commander of an indigenous mike Force unit. He retired from active service duty in August, 1990, serving as the Command Sergeant Major of the Special Forces Training Group at Fort Bragg.
After retirement he worked 11 years as a law enforcement officer and Emergency Services director at his local community and the remainder of his years as a contractor for several defense-related companies.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Schwarcbher; his children, Alex Schwarcbher Jr., and Theresa Wilson and her husband, Scott; five grandchildren, Brittany, Alyssa, Danny, Brittani, Derek, Krystal; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Ave, Raeford, NC 28376, on Thursday, February 10, 2021 at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Fisher House Foundation, Fort Bragg, assisting visiting military families.

Ethel Taylor

Ethel Davis Taylor, 83, died Saturday, February 6, 2021. She was a long time resident of Open Arms Retirement Center in Raeford.

She was born in Jamestown on March 3, 1937 to the late Gough Davis and Essie Cobb Davis. She worked in the textile industry prior to having children and then was a stay-at-home wife and mother.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Luther Charles (L.C.) Taylor, a sister, Marion Davis Sibley, and two brothers, Truett Davis and Curtis Davis.

She is survived by three children, Linda Rockholt (George) of Raeford, David Charles Taylor of Aberdeen, and Steven Taylor of Elizabeth City; three sisters, Frieda Evans of Stoneville, Bessie Ardizzone of Beaverton, Oregon, and Jacqueline Draughon of Fayetteville; three brothers, Elray Davis of Fayetteville, Richard Davis (Pat) Hope Mills, and Murl Davis (Martie) of Lumberton; five grandchildren, David Charles Taylor Jr. (Sara), Christian Craig, Kevin Craig, Justin Craig, and LeeAnna Craig; and two great-grandchildren, Hannah  and Cataleya.

The family will receive friends at LaFayette Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 1-2 p.m. and a funeral will follow at 2, officiated by the Rev. Tim Gore.

Interment will be at Parkton Cemetery.
