Scottie Kiser

Scottie Kiser, age 42, died Tuesday February 16, 2021.

He was born February 6, 1977.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Savage, and his sisters, Glenda Carol Kiser and Ann Marie Kiser.

He is survived by his mother, Thelma Kiser of Aberdeen; brothers Ray Kiser of Aberdeen, and Benjamin McGee;  two minor daughters he loved dearly, Selena Carol Kiser and Annamarie Kiser; his stepmother, Nellie Savage of Aberdeen; seven nephews; two nieces; and his best buddy,  Russell Perhealth, who took him under his wings as a young boy. 

A memorial service and gathering of friends will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Crumpler Funeral Home in Aberdeen. The family will receive friends following the service.

Eva Horne

Eva Horne of Raeford died surrounded by her family on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 in her home at age 89.
She was born in Czechoslovakia on August 14, 1931. She was preceded in death by her husband David Horne Sr., her son Tony Horne, her son-in-law Jamie Wellington, her daughter-in-law Jeannie Horne, and her brother.  
She was the nucleus of her family assuring love and guidance to all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was an avid gardener and animal lover.
She is survived by two sons, Steve Horne and his wife Ann of Concord, and David Horne Jr. and his wife Pam of Franklin: a daughter, Cindy H. Wellington of Raeford; a daughter-in-law, Terri C. Horne of South Caroina; 13 grandchildren, Josh, Jessica, Steven, Daniel, Cassidy, Chris, Samantha, Caleb, Tiffany, Amada, Rikki, Heather, and Austin; 25 great-grandchildren, Jamie Lynn, Joseph, Shannon, Melissa, Riley, Bristol, Colton, Wesley, Easton, Paisley, Reynolds, Landon, Weston, Beckett, Anniston, Charlie, Caley, Cameron, Abi, Hannah, Malachi, Radley, Arya, Olivia and J.T.; and two sisters, Nora, and Inga of Germany.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the Raeford Cemetery with Pastor Roger Burns officiating.

George Brown

George Brown, 7, of Raeford, died February 14, 2021.

He was born on August 16, 1944 to the late Walter Brown Sr. and Delphia Brown in Moore County. After graduating from Hoke High School, he became a barber.  He went on to serve in the United States Air Force Special Police during Vietnam.  Upon returning home he began a career as a detention officer at McCain Correctional in Hoke County.  He went on to a career in law enforcement serving with the Hoke County Sheriff's Office and the Raeford Police Department.  He finally found his calling as a magistrate for Hoke County until his retirement.

When he wasn't working, he had a passion for cars and hanging out at Raeford Hardware.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Annette Brown; daughters, Megan Brown and Nikki Jenkins and husband Richard; and grandchildren Victoria Jenkins and Richard Jenkins.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at the Raeford Cemetery with Pastor William (Bill) Vines officiating.

The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.

Howard "Peat" Brock

Howard Tillman "Peat" Brock, 62, died Thursday, February 11, 2021 at home with his loving family by his side.
He was born November 15, 1958 in Fayetteville. He served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Force US Atlantic Fleet.
He is survived by his parents, Eddie Tillman and Claudyne Brock Jr. of Rockfish; his siblings, Leonard Brock and wife, Regina of Raeford and Jennifer Maxwell and husband, Eric of Boone; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Gillis Hill Farm Pavilion.The family will greet friends following the service at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Rockfish. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to St. Jude’s Hospital in memory of Howard.
