Herman Sanders

Herman Leroy "Jay Bird" Sanders, a lifetime resident of Hoke County, died surrounded by his family at his home on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at age 78.
He was born in Hoke County on June 14, 1944 to the late O.C. Sanders and Mary Baker Sanders.
He was a heating and air contractor, licensed electrician, and electrical contractor and retired from Kelly Springfield after 32 years as the area maintenance manager over Power House. He was a jack of all trades.He was a member of Wagram Church of God. He loved the Lord, his church, and his family. He could be seen many mornings eating breakfast at McDonald's, Hardees, or the Edinborough restaurant.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jennie Pearl Myatt, James Neil Inman, and Carson Sanders. 
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan T. Sanders of Raeford; a son, Archie Sanders of Raeford; three daughters, Tammy Goins and her husband Daryl, Rhoda Billinger and her husband Luigi, and Cindy Thompkins and her husband Glenn, all of Raeford; 31 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Inman and his wife Carol, and Frank Inman and his wife Ava, all of Raeford; and a sister, Margaret Foster of Greenville.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2022 at Crumpler Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m.  Saturday, July 9, 2022, at the Wagram Church of God, 21741 Mc Kay St, Wagram, with Pastor Ricky Brewer, Evangelist Daryl Goins and Pastor Jerry Edge officiating. Burial will be in the Raeford Cemetery.
