Fred M. Culbreth

Fred Malcolm Culbreth, II, age 66, formerly of Raeford, passed away April 2, 2012 at Park Springs, a continuing care retirement community in Stone Mountain, Georgia after an extended illness.
He was born in Richmond County November 27, 1945 to the late Fred Malcolm Culbreth, Sr. and Lila Liles Culbreth. He grew up in Raeford, where he graduated from Hoke High School in 1964, and received a BA degree from the University of North Carolina in 1968. After graduating he was employed by the university in the Residence Life Office. He was very active in the academic and business community and opened an antique refinishing business in the triangle area. He later retired from Discover Services, a unit of Morgan Stanley as the Southeast Regional Manager in Atlanta and account executive in North Carolina. He was a member of Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. He is preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Culbreth Saunders.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Graham Culbreth of Beaufort, Georgia; a daughter, Heather C. Woodall and husband Woody of Stone Mountain; and their mother, Margie Tyler Culbreth of Lawrenceville, Georgia; a sister, Connie Liles Culbreth of Chapel Hill; and a brother-in-law, Terry Eugene Saunders of Charlotte.
The family will receive relatives and friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 5 at Raeford Cemetery with the Rev. James L. Braden officiating.
