Josephine Sarah Parker, 90 years old, of Raeford, died Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Firsthealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.
She was born on November 6, 1922 in Washington County, Pennsylvania to the late Frank and Sophie Steklacic. .
She is preceded in death by her husband George Freeman Parker, Sr. and her son George Freeman Parker, Jr. She was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church.
She is survived by her son Bobby W. Parker (Jackie) of Raeford, and her daughter Candice M. Clark (Stan), a granddaughter Kelly Culp (Jim), and a great grandson Mason Culp all of Austin, Texas.
A funeral mass will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Raeford.
Interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013 in Cheltenham Veteran's Cemetery, Cheltenham, Maryland.

Gabrielle Brown
Gabrielle Francis Lee Brown, age 24, of Raeford, died on Monday, August 26, 2013 at her home with her family by her side.
She was born on February 11, 1989 in Hinesville, Georgia. She formerly attended Sandhills Community College where she was working to obtain a business degree prior to her illness. She loved and cherished her three beautiful daughters. She loved butterflies and flowers. She was a member of Rivers of Living Water Church of God in Fayetteville.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin Brown; three daughters, Olivia Nicole Brown, Cailey Morgan Brown, and Isabella Marie Brown all of the home; her parents, Clifford Davis and Parrish Davis of Raeford; two sisters, Tara Diane Strickland of Aynor, South Carolina and Ashley Ann Renee Cochran of Raefor; her grandmother, Sonja Carte of Huntington, West Virginia; two nieces, Abigail and Emmalyn Strickland; and many other family members and friends.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Rivers of Living Water Church of God in Fayetteville with Pastor Paul Keeter officiating. The family will receive friends prior to service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Shiloh Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Raeford.

James (Jim) Hendrix
James (Jim) Robert Hendrix, Jr., 90, of Raeford died Monday, August 26, 2013 at his home.
He was born May 6, 1923 in Hoke County to the late James Robert Hendrix, Sr. and Maggie McDonald Hendrix.
He was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen Gragg Hendrix, and his son Larry Hendrix.
He was a member of the Raeford United Methodist Church. He served as a Second Lieutenant in the US Marines during WWII and the Korean War.
He is survived by two sons Jerry R. Hendrix (Sharon) of Carme, Indiana and Jeff R. Hendrix (Red) of Raeford; a brother, Earl Hendrix of Raeford; a daughter-in-law Donna Hendrix of Louisburg; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the family home 2235 Philippi Church Road, Raeford.
A graveside service officiated by CRE Herman Autry will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2013 at The Raeford Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Philippi Presbyterian Church, 2800 Philippi Church Road, Raeford, NC 28376

Ret. SSG Cecil A. Rader
Retired SSG Cecil Andrew Rader, 57, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013 in his home in Rockfish.
He was born in Washtenaw County, Missouri on July 27, 1956 to William and Vivian Holt Rader. He retired from the US Army and then worked for Blacks Tire in Fayetteville. He is preceded in death by his father, William Carole Rader.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cynthia Ann Rader of the home; mother, Vivian Rader of Michigan; son, Robert Andrew Bryson Turner of the home; four stepchildren in South Carolina; two brothers, Roy Rader and Jim Rader, both of Michigan; and two sisters, Carolyn McInnes and Pat Schultz, both of Michigan.
Visitation will be 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 2699 US Highway 401 Bus Raeford, NC 28376. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the church with Pastor Toby Neal officiating.

He was an Army Veteran.
