Lillian Thames


Lillian Thames of Raeford went to be with her Lord Thursday, June 16, 2016 in FirstHealth Hospice House at the age 88.
She  was born in Davidson County on September 30, 1927 to the late John Thomas Taylor and Ada Lucinda Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Thames; her brothers, Richards F. Taylor, Howard J. Taylor, Grayson M. Taylor, Everette Taylor; her sisters, Juanita F. Purvis and Nancy L. Stewart. Mrs. Thames was a member of the Raeford Evangelical Methodist Church and retired from Philips Electronics.
She is survived by her sons, Larry Thames of Morehead City, and Howard Thames (Kay) of Mebane; her brother, Elmer Taylor of Reidsville; her sister, Norma Dooley (Carl) of Raeford; three grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 18, 2016 between the hours of 11 a.m. and noon at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford.
The funeral will be at noon in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Roger Burns officiating. Burial will be in the Raeford Cemetery.

Jerry R. Davis

Jerry R. Davis (1942­2016) passed away peacefully after a brief illness Sunday June 5th, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas, where he was a longtime resident. He was born in Raeford where, after graduating Hoke County High School, joined the United States Air Force. After serving 26 years, seeing many foreign countries and attaining the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, he retired with full honors.

He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas "Frank" Davis and Fannie "Frankie" Currie Davis; four brothers, Paul, Thomas, James Crawford and Kenneth; and two sisters, "Bee" [Bennie Lee] and Eloise. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 46-plus years, Barbara Davis; daughter Jodi Davis Garza of Leander, Texas; son Jamie R. Davis of Hillsborough; and four grandchildren, Isabella, Ryan, Van and Nicholas.

Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, Wednesday June 15, 5­-7 p.m. A military burial will be at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, June 16th, 10:15am.
