Lela McKeithan Butler

Lela McKeithan McDowell Butler, age 94, passed away November 1, 2013 in Apex. She was born September 29, 1919 in Hoke County, daughter of Neil Archie and Sara Elizabeth (Hart) McKeithan.
She worked as a teacher before her retirement where she taught in both the Apex and Fuquay-Varina school districts. She enjoyed playing bridge and bingo, and also enjoyed doing needlework.
She is survived by her daughter Lynne Bridger; a son Donald McDowell; three grandsons Travis, Kevin, and Justin Bridger; two great-grandchildren; her sister Eunice Mottley; and brother Cecil McKeithan. She was preceded in death by her two husbands Melvin McDowell and W. Gordon Butler.
A graveside service was held Wednesday November 6, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Apex Cemetery. .

Carnell Jacobs

Carnell Jacobs, 62 of 3518 Balfour Road, Red Springs died Sunday, November 3, 2013 in his home.
Survivors are: wife, Lois Jacobs; daughters, Angie Martney of Hamlet and Tammy Bridgeman and her husband Mike of Laurel Hill; brothers, Muril Jacobs, Perry Jacobs, Terry Chavis all of Maxton and Ronnie Jacobs of Raeford; sisters, Christine Henderson, Karinta Caprun, Mary Elizabeth Walsh, Loretta Jacobs and Pamela Jacobs all of Red Springs, Nevelyn Locklear of Raeford, and Ramona Parker of Maxton; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be held Thursday, November 7 at 2 p.m. in South Hoke Baptist Church in Red Springs with the Rev.'s Ernest Goins, Hubbard Lowery and Willie Jacobs officiating. Burial will in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 7-9 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home in Red Springs.
