Eldon J. Sandy

Eldon Johnson Sandy of Carthage died Thursday, October 13, 2022, at the age of 89. 

 

He was born in Hoke County on December 9, 1932, to the late Lloyd and Maude Davis Sandy. He grew up in Hoke County and on July 4, 1954, he married Betty Long. He grew up enjoying music. He learned by ear to play the bass fiddle, fiddle, and mandolin. He and his brothers played with the likes of Charlie Daniels among other notable stars. He enjoyed fishing and would spend countless hours out by the water. Whether fishing at the coast for spots or a local pond, there is where he found peace and enjoyment. He deeply loved his family and often reminded his children how much he loved them. He proudly served in the National Guard and in the U.S. Air Force. 
He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his son, Sammy Sandy; his grandchildren, Jason Sandy and Emily Hamilton; and by all 9 of his siblings.

 

He leaves behind his children, Catherine Butler (Robert) of Pinebluff, Theron Sandy (Rose) of Vass, Patricia Sandy of Carthage, Gail Key (Steve) of Carthage, and Paula Sandy of Pinehurst; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

 

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 16, 2022, 3-5 p.m. at Crumpler Funeral Home-Aberdeen, 40229 US 1 Hwy, Aberdeen, NC 28315. 
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 17th in the Raeford Cemetery beginning at 1 p.m..

 

Memorials may be made to New Covenant Fellowship, 1305 Hulsey Rd, Carthage, NC 28327, and/or FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care, 150 Applecross Rd, Pinehurst, NC 28374.

 

Care of the family is entrusted to Crumpler Funeral Home-Aberdeen.

Terry Revels Sr.

Terry Jackson Revels Sr. of Fayetteville died Thursday October 6, 2022 at his home at age 79. 
He was born in Mecklenburg County on December 13, 1942 to the late Obie Jackson Revels and Lula Stamey Revels.
He retired from the United States Navy as an air traffic controller, was a member of Excelsior Lodge number 261 AF&AM in Charlotte, North Carolina, and was a Shriner. He had an avid love of flying and traveling in his RV across the United States.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Camilla Webb Revels, a brother, Gary Revels, and a sister Serita Williamson.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Revels of Fayetteville; two sons, Terry Jackson Revels Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Steadman, and Roger Wayne Revels of N.C.; two stepsons, Jason Ryan Taylor and his wife, Kelly Hampton, and Matthew Trent Taylor of Bessemer City; grandchildren, Jared, Sarah, and Jonathan; great-granddaughter, Isabel; two step-grandchildren, Caterina Jones and Kandace Hampton; a nephew, Jeremy Biddy and his son Waylon; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Webb of Gastonia; special friends Ken Gregory, Earlene Harper, and Dustin Gregory of Raeford; and a cat, Cheyenne (Dammit Kitty).
A celebration of life will be held later.
