Bruce Beidleman of Raeford died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center at the age of 63.
He was born on January 6, 1949 in Carbon County, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Beidleman. He served in the U.S. Army. He served as both Assistant Fire Chief and Fire Chief of the Puppy Creek Fire Department, and was also the past president of the Hoke County Fireman's Association. He was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church and attended Parker United Methodist Church. He was also a member and past president of the Pee Dee Antique Power Club.
Survivors are his wife, Christine R. Beidleman of Raeford; a son, Timothy Beidleman and his wife Leighanne of Holly Springs; a daughter, Kimberly B. Dechenne and her husband Stephen of Raeford; his mother, Ruth Beidleman of Leighton, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Dwight Beidleman and his wife Audrey, and Brian Beidleman and his wife Dawne both of Pennsylvania; four sisters, Cindy Swatt and her husband Leonard, Linda Rau and her husband Paul, Debbie Fritz and her husband Paul, and Beverly DiGilio and her husband Rocco all of Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren, Hunter Beidleman, Alexis Dechenne, and Kaitlyn Dechenne.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Ave, Raeford, NC 28376
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Parker United Methodist Church, 7400 Fayetteville Road, Raeford, NC 28376 with the Rev. Dennis Lamm and the Rev. Stephen Bennett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Sylvan S. Ash
On May 23, 2012, Sylvan Samuel Ash Jr., of Daly City, California passed away peacefully after a longterm illness at the VA Hospital Community Living Center in San Francisco, California. He was 86. He was born October 27, 1925 in Claymont Delaware, the youngest of three children. At 16 years of age, and not yet old enough to join the regular Army, he joined the U.S Merchant Marine to serve his country at the onset of WWII in 1941. In 1943, Sylvan joined the U.S. Army. He began his career in Infantry before finding his niche in what he loved most. He completed Parachute Training and Advanced Airborne School as a member of the 82nd Airborne. After a serious jumping injury, he retrained into the Criminal Investigation Division (CID). He was married to the late Retha Howell of Raeford and they had one son Scotty. While stationed in Trieste, Italy,he married Fiorella Maggio and had two sons, Perry and Gary. He retired with an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army to civilian life in 1963. He leaves behind his wife, Fiorella Ash, and his three sons Scott, Perry and Gary. He was the adored grandfather of Kristin Ash Moya, Ryan Ash, Jessica Ash, Eric Ash, Christopher Ash, Emily Ash, Miya Ash, and Gavin Ash, and great grandfather to Gabriella Moya. He is also survived by his sister Esther Shaw. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the VA Medical Center CLC, 4150 Clement St., SF, CA 94121.
Curland Laviner
Curland Laviner of Wagram died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital at the age of 93.
She was born on July 22, 1918 in Scotland County to the late Walter and Clara Sessoms Laviner. She is preceded in death by her husband James E. Laviner. She was a member of the Wagram Church of God .
Survivors are two sons, Rudolph Laviner and his wife Janice of Wagram, Jackie Laviner and his wife Becky of Wagram; four daughters, Gertrude L. Hill and her husband Harvey of Haw River, Luella L. Tew and her husband Charlie of Fayetteville, Betty L. Stanton of Laurinburg, Brenda L. Jones and her husband Ron of Greensboro; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and seven great great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be6-8 p.m. Thursday June 7, 2012 at the Wagram Church of God, 21741 McKay Street, Wagram, NC 28396.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012 at the Wagram Church of God with the Rev. Harry Clark officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery in Wagram.

Mary Elizabeth W. Bundy
Mary Elizabeth Wright Bundy died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in Cape Fear Valley Hospital at the age of 79.
She was born in Brunswick County on January 28, 1933 to the late Alfred and Lola Honeycutt Wright. She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry T. Bundy; a daughter, Patricia Ann Bundy; her son, David Mitchell Bundy; and her grandchildren, Tiffany Afton Bundy and Elizabeth Grace Bundy. She was a member of the Hope Mills Pentecostal Holiness Church where she taught Sunday School for more than 30 years.
She is survived by two sons, Terry Bundy and his wife Bonnie of Red Springs, and James Richard (Rick) Bundy and his wife Janice of Fayetteville; a brother, Dan Wright of Raeford; a sister Rachel Dees of Raeford; six grandchildren, Brian Bundy and his wife Dawna, Keith Bundy, Jason Bundy, Terilyn Medlin and her husband Matt, Brittani Bundy, and Olivia Bundy; and seven great-grandchildren, Allison, Codi, Logan, Catilyn, Sam, Ashley, and Allie.

Maurine Irvin
Maurine Irvin died Thursday, May 31, 2012 in Cape Fear Valley Hospital at the age of 94.
She was born in Kemp, Texas to the late Clyde and Ada Cox McFaul, and is preceded in death by her husband, Earl C. Irvin. She Loved the Lord.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Ann Lecroy and her husband Rocky of Fayetteville, and June Carol Qualls and her husband Rick of Maypearl, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel, 131 Harris Ave, Raeford, NC 28376 with Pastor Tony Vickers Officiating.
