Betty H. Currie
Betty Harris Currie, 69, of Raeford died Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Duke University Hospital.
She was born August 9, 1944 in Hoke County to the late Robie Woodrow Harris and Mary Thelma Collier Harris. She enjoyed taking care of and spending time with her family. She was a member of Celebration of Praise Church of God.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ralph D. Currie of Raeford; two sons, Ralph D. Currie Jr. (Cynthia) of Pinebluff, and Robie W. Currie (Belinda) of Raeford; a daughter Linda Gail Cadlett (Sandy) of Raeford; three brothers, James Calvin "J.C." Harris (Mary), Ellis Franklin "Juice" Harris (Peggy), and Roy Lee Harris (Donna) all of Raeford; two sisters, Virginia H. McNeill of Southern Pines, and Patsy H. Lockridge of Raeford; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Ave, Raeford and other times at the home, 325 Mockingbird Hill Road, Raeford.

Willie "Bill" E. Stanley
Willie ("Bill") Eugin Stanley, age 84, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord on April 6, 2014 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. He was one of two children born to Carlos (deceased) and Pearl Stanley of Fairmont. He was very close to his sister, Ann and they grew up on a farm where they learned the value of hard work and Christian principles. He was a lifelong member of Centerville Baptist Church.
After high school, he attended Campbell College and State University and later married June Floyd in 1951 and they had two children. They resided in Raeford, where he was employed as a supervisor at Burlington Industries for 34 years before retiring in 1985. Although their marriage ended, he and June maintained a close family connection and respect for each other right up to her death on March 25, 2014. His fiancée Betty Lawson has been the light of his life and devoted companion for 46 years. They have shared a wonderful and full life together enjoying various activities which included church, square dancing, fishing, traveling with the Winnebago Motor Home Club and spending time with beloved family and friends.
He was known for working tirelessly in his garden and he loved to give away the fruits of his labor. He was also a compassionate person that had tenderness for animals. He had a strong character and was known as a man of great integrity and honesty.
He is survived by his mother, Pearl Stanley (age 104) of Wesley Pines; a sister, Ann (Jimmy) Casey of Florence, South Carolina; fiancée, Betty Lawson of Lumberton; a daughter, Terri (Lou) Cunningham of Charlotte; a son, Sidney Floyd Stanley of Charlotte; niece, Kelvie (Michael) Reese of Florence; and nephew, Cliff (Cindy) Casey of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Centerville Baptist Church in Lumberton with Rev. Ed Wilcox officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1-2 at the church. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery.

Edith Rose Jackson Burke, 74, of Belleville, Illinois, born August 16, 1939, in Parkton, died Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Four Fountains Convalescent Center.
She was the former owner and operator of Brock Florist in Raeford and was a member of the Philippi Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ottis and Lillian Kinlaw Jackson; a brother, Maurice Jackson; and a sister, Barbara Jackson.
Surviving are three daughters, Billie Snively of Belleville, Illinois, Samantha (Robert) Imlay of Las Vegas, and Cynthia (Charles) Whitt of Parkton; six grandchildren, Heather Johnson, Preston and Corbin Imlay, and Taylor, Lillian, and Cameron Snively; three great-grandchildren, Cody Pegram, Brandon and Hayden Johnson;
two brothers, Jerry (Ann) Jackson of St. Pauls, and Ralph Jackson of Hope Mills; a sister, Rachel Bolton of Rockfish; and nieces and nephews.
