Ellen Monroe

Ellen Jean Monroe, 59, of 2438 O'Hara Drive, died recently.
Survivors are: Damon Williams and Aaron; daughter, Ellen Ross; and sister, Eula.
The funeral will be held Friday, Apr. 6 at 2 p.m. Friday in Abundant Life Ministries COGIC. Burial will be in Center Grove Church cemetery.

Vickie Richards

Vickie Richards, 64 of Fayetteville, died Sunday, March 18, 2012 in Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center of Fayetteville.
A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, April 15 at 2 p.m. in the Rockfish Community Center.
Survivors are: husband, Charles of Rockfish; daughters, Debra Bolton and Katherin Coax of Rockfish; step-son, Adam Richards of Rockfish; step-daughter, Jennifer Richards of Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Miguel Rivera

Miguel Rivera of Fayetteville passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012 in the Fayetteville VA Medical Center at the age of 63.
Sergeant First Class Rivera was born in Puerto Rico on September 16, 1948 to the late Bautista and Carmen Rodriquez Rivera. He retired from the Army in 1992 after 24 years. He loved restoring old cars and was a loving husband, father and friend. Preceding him in death is his wife, Carmen M. Rivera and daughter, Neminsa Rivera.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Miguel Rivera Jr. of Fayetteville; two daughters, Jeannette Restituyo of Raeford and Sharryn L. Washington of Fayetteville; six brothers, Victor Manuel Delgado of Texas, Rafael Rivera of Arizona, Eladio Rivera, Candido Rivera, Victor Tolentino and Tony Tolentino, all of Florida; AND nine grandchildren, Sephen and Serjio Restituyo of Raeford, Lathara Rivera and Victoria Royal of Fayetteville, Kevin and Keira Washington of Florida and Gregory, Christian and Kevin of New Jersey.
A memorial service with full military honors will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2012 at LaFayette Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Fort Bragg Post Cemetery following the service.
Arrangements for the family are in the care of LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304.

Fred M. Culbreth

Fred Malcolm Culbreth, II, age 66, formerly of Raeford, passed away April 2, 2012 at Park Springs, a continuing care retirement community in Stone Mountain, Georgia after an extended illness.
He was born in Richmond County November 27, 1945 to the late Fred Malcolm Culbreth, Sr. and Lila Liles Culbreth. He grew up in Raeford, where he graduated from Hoke High School in 1964, and received a BA degree from the University of North Carolina in 1968. After graduating he was employed by the university in the Residence Life Office. He was very active in the academic and business community and opened an antique refinishing business in the triangle area. He later retired from Discover Services, a unit of Morgan Stanley as the Southeast Regional Manager in Atlanta and account executive in North Carolina. He was a member of Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. He is preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Culbreth Saunders.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Graham Culbreth of Beaufort, Georgia; a daughter, Heather C. Woodall and husband Woody of Stone Mountain; and their mother, Margie Tyler Culbreth of Lawrenceville, Georgia; a sister, Connie Liles Culbreth of Chapel Hill; and a brother-in-law, Terry Eugene Saunders of Charlotte.
The family will receive relatives and friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 5 at Raeford Cemetery with the Rev. James L. Braden officiating.

Patricia A. Pevia

Patricia Ann Pevia, 74, of 133 Dorothy Drive, died Saturday, March 31, 2012.
Survivors are: Children, Laura Strickland, Rita McNeill, Nita Locklear, Vonnie Bullard, Nannette Ward, Wanda, Timothy and Edward; 21 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, Apr. 4 at 3 p.m. in South Hoke Baptist Church in Red Springs. Burial will be in Galilee Baptist Church.

Ronald McFadgion

Ronald McFadgion, 62, of 121 N. Wright St., died Sunday, March 25, 2012.
Survivors are: wife, Shirley; daughter, Regena McLaughlin; sons, Ronald Brown, Enrico Leggett and Michael Morrisey; sister, Lynzandra Breeden; brother, Leroy Baldwin; and nine grandchildren.
The funeral was held Saturday, Mar. 31 at 2 p.m. in Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was in McAllister family cemetery.

 



Hubert Gates

Hubert Gates, 51, of Raeford, died Monday, March 26, 2012.
Survivors are: daughter, Lakeshia Davis; son, Bryan Griffin; mother, Irma Russ; brothers, Larry, Wayne and Henry; sisters, Jacqueline, Vicky and Tina; and two grandchildren.
The funeral was held Saturday, Mar. 31 at 3 p.m. in Mount Carmel Holiness Church. Burial was in Nazareth Church cemetery in Wagram.

Ronald L. Gaddy

Ronald Lee Gaddy, 53, of Raeford and formerly of Laurinburg, died Thursday, March 22, 2012.
Survivors are: wife, Patricia; children, Sabrina, Patrick and Keith.
The funeral was held Saturday Mar. 31 at 2 p.m. in The Greater Highway Church of Christ in Rowland. Burial and dove ceremony was in the church cemetery.
