Paul J. Wilson

Paul James Wilson Jr. of Raeford died, Monday, February 16, 2015 in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hoke Campus at the age of 67.

He was born in Bristol, Virginia on September 16, 1947. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul James Wilson, Sr., his brother, Jack Douglas Wilson, Sr., and his daughter, Paula Wilson-Maddox. He retired after 26 years in the US Army as a CW3.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia C. Wilson of Raeford; his son, Jerry Wilson (Lori) of Raeford; his daughter, Robyn Wilson-Branch (Jason) of Raeford; his mother, Roberta Ruth Wilson of Bristol; son-in-law, Kevin Maddox of Raeford; mother-in-law, Virginia Casey of Lynchburg, Virginia; brother-in-law, Charles Casey (Pat) of Lynchburg; his brothers, Charles R. Wilson of Bristol, William E. Wilson (Edie) of Knoxville, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Josh Rich, Tim Rich, Morgan Branch, Diana Maddox, Zoe Maddox, and Victor Maddox; and many nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Charles D. Arno


Charles Douglas Arno, Sr., 84, died Feb. 15 at his home in Washington, DC.
Doug was born May 21, 1930, to Charles William and Rosa Lee (Freeman) Arno in Leeds, Ala. His parents, along with older sisters Dora, Grace, Ruth and Corrine, preceded him in death. After graduating Coffee High School, Florence, Ala., he began a 21-year career in the US Air force. He married Mary Nelle Harris of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., in 1958.
The two were blessed with four sons during their 38 years of marriage. He received his bachelor's degree from Chaminade University in 1967 and his master's degree from Pepperdine University in 1972. He retired from the USAF in 1973 as a Senior Master Sergeant. The family later settled in Raeford, NC, when Doug went to work as a civil service military education specialist at the JFK Center in nearby Fort Bragg. He retired in 1995.
Doug will be remembered for his Biblical knowledge and unwavering faith in God. He was a diehard fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, a master gardener and a loving father.
Survivors are: sons, Charles D. Arno, Jr., Pinehurst, NC; William H. Arno (wife Angie), Stokesdale, NC; James F. Arno (wife Jennifer), New York Mills, MN; Russell A. Arno (wife Vanessa), Charlotte, NC; six grandsons and three granddaughters.
A private memorial service will be held Saturday, February 21 in Mayodan, NC.

Jacqueline Warren

Jacqueline Warren, 63, of Raeford, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2015.
Survivors are: husband, Robert; children, Michael and Robert; mother, Leola Blue; sisters, Barbara McMillan, Carolyn, Wanda, Brenda Blue and Dorothy McDaniel; brother, Hundo Blue.
The memorial service was held Sunday, February 15 at 3 p.m. in Freedom Chapel AME Zion Church.



Bonnie L. Bell

Bonnie Lee Bell of 625 Goose Pond Road  Red Springs, died Saturday, February 14, 2015 in her home at the age of 83.
Ms. Bell was born in Robeson County on August 1, 1931, to the late Carson and Fannie Bell. She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Locklear. She was a member of Shannon Assembly of God and retired from St. Mary's Hospital in New Jersey.
Survivors are: daughters, Linda Rushing (Roger) of Monroe, NC., Lois Bullard (Joe) of Red Springs, NC., Brenda Lee Strickland of Laurinburg, NC., Gloria Dingle (Simon) of South Carolina and Sharon Kelly of Virginia; sons, Larry D. Locklear (Mary Ann) of Shannon, NC., Gary Lynn Locklear (Grace) of Pembroke, NC., and Marlon Kelly of Oklahoma; sisters, Judy C. Locklear (Eugene) of Shannon, NC., Jo Ann Bell of Red Springs, NC., Betty Revels (RD) of Lumberton, NC., Margie Winstead of Maryland, and Peggy Kujan (Rick) of Florida; brothers, Richard Bell of Shannon and Thomas Bell of Red Springs, NC; 31 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great- grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, February 17 at 2:30 pm at the Shannon Assembly of God with Reverend  Mitchell Oxendine Officaing.
Burial will be in the Shannon Assembly of God Cemetery
Visitation will be held 7:00 until 9:00 pm on Monday, February 16, 2015 Crumpler Funeral Home, 220 East 4th Ave. Red Springs, NC
