Malcolm L. McKeithan, Jr

Malcolm Luther McKeithan, Jr., 85, of Greenville, South Carolina, formerly of Raeford, died Thursday, September 3, 2015.
He is the son of the late Malcolm Luther McKeithan, Sr. and Almena Anderson McKeithan.
Survivors are: his wife, Nora; daughter, Ann McKeithan Coker(Gerry); son, Mac McKeithan(Jackie); and three grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Monday, Sept. 7 at 11 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will follow at the graveside.

Nicole Woriax

Nicole Woriax of Raeford went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the age of 49.

She was born in Scotland County on April 30, 1966 to the late Foster Woriax and Hazel Henderson Woriax. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Goins. She was a faithful member of Mt. Elim Baptist Church, where she served in the Mt. Elim Young Adult Choir for more than 30 years.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sister, Brenda Woriax of Raeford and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and church family.

The family will receive friends Saturday, September 5, 2015 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Mt. Elim Baptist Church, 921 Wilson Rd, Red Springs.

The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Mt. Elim Baptist Church with Pastor Christopher Webb, the Rev. David Hunt and the Rev. Tony Brewington officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Denise Perez

Denise Perez, 48, of Raeford, died Tuesday, Sept.1, 2015.
Survivors are: husband, Edwin; children, Peter Rivera, MIchael, Thomas, Mandy, Nichole and Joseph; and two grandchildren.
A private family service will be held.

 




Hanson Herring

Hanson Wayne Herring, 44, of Converse, Texas, formerly of Moore County, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, at his home.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Iris Herring Smith and Garry Burnett Sr.,
Survivors are: his beautiful daughter, Venis Nicole Herring, and her mother, Velda Herring; stepfather Carl Smith; brothers, Marcus Smith, Patrick Smith, Garry Burnett Jr., Todd Burnett, and Zach Burnett; and sister, Tamara Smith. He also leaves to cherish his memory his long-time friend, partner and soul mate, Brenda Crowell.
The funeral was held Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. in Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines with Pastor Beatrice Ray officiating.  Burial was in Wayne Cemetery.

Dors Walters


Doris Horne Walters, 75, of Supply, formerly of Lumberton, passed away Monday, August 31, 2015 at her residence.
She was born in Robeson County on September 10, 1939 to the late Robert and Dora Herring Horne. She worked as a self-employed beautician.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Alton Lawrence; brothers, David Horne, John H. Horne, and Robert C. Horne; and a sister, Ruby Marie Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Alton George Walters of the home; daughters, Debra Ann Martin (Jim) of Nashville, Tennessee, and Melissa Kay Clemmons (fiancé, Daniel Duncan) of Supply; brothers, Kirk Horne of Supply, and Brice Horne of Brandon, Florida; grandchildren, Jessica Clemmons, Kayla Clemmons, B.J. Clemmons; a great-grandchild, Jayden Tyler; and a special friend, Ann Hardin.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 2 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton.
The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, September 3 at Floyd Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Stephenson officiating.

Rosman Worsley

Rosmon "Travis" Worsley, 45, of 119 Spring Valley Drive, died Friday, Aug. 28, 2015.
Survivors: daughter, Natashia Morrison; parents, Madeline and John Campbell, and Paul Sr.; and brothers, William Harris and Paul Jr.
The funeral will be held Thursday, Sept. 3 at 11 a.m. in Word of Life Temple. Burial will be in Fisher Hill Baptist Church cemetery in Cheraw, S.C.

 



Jean Kelly


Jean Clark Johnson Kelly, born February 27, 1923 in Robeson County to the late Heman Glenn and Vivian Hester Clark, passed away on September 1, 2015 in her home.
She led a fulfilled life of serving God and her family. She was a co-owner of the Johnson Company. She enjoyed travelling the world as long as her health allowed.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Julian Samuel Johnson Sr., her brothers, Hal Clark, Alton Clark and Kenneth Clark, and her grandson, Chris Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Kelly; her daughters, Shirley Wright and husband Bobby, and Marianne Baker and husband Eddie; a son, Julian Johnson and wife Margaret; her brother, Dr. Tony Clark; grandchildren, Robert Wright, Will Wright, Ed Baker, John Wright, Worthy McFadyen, Jay Johnson, and Sam Baker; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until noon Friday, September 4 at the John C. Ropp Fellowship Hall at Raeford Presbyterian Church.
The funeral will follow at noon at the church with the Rev. Michael McGehee and the Rev. Douglas Kelly officiating.
Burial will be in the Raeford Cemetery.

Carrie B. Ross

Carrie B. Ross, 82, of 1176 Loop Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015.
Survivors are: children, Barbara Johnson, Gladys McLean, Brenda McAllister, Willie Blackshear, Sonya Fairley, Jerome Johnson, James, and Willie Blackshear.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, September 1 at 2 p.m. in Cape Fear Conference B Headquarters in Fayetteville. Burial will be in Mountain Grove A.M.E. Zion Church cemetery. Viewing will be held Monday, Aug. 31 from 3 to 7p.m. at Purcell Funeral Home in Southern Pines.
