James Robert Weaver Jr., 55, of Wilmington, died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter of Wilmington after a long battle with heart disease. He was born November 18th, 1957 in Macon, Georgia to the late James and Florence Weaver. He married Candace Sullivan Weaver on October 2, 2003 and she survives.
Also surviving are his son James Robert Groome and stepson Cory Steven Groome, both of Wilmington; brother, Mark Cameron Weaver of Southern Pines; and various aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his youngest brother Bob Tanner Weaver.
Known as Jim, he was a long time resident of Raeford, traveled extensively, and settled in Wilmington, where he met and married his wife Candace.
He studied at the Pinehurst Culinary School, and became a master chef with a career that lasted 25 years. He began a new career, most recently with Rite-aid pharmacy. He was an accomplished guitar player, an avid reader of all genres, and was an obsessive football fan, especially of the Oregon Ducks. In recent years, he was actively involved in Full Circle Ministries. He had an infectious quirky sense of humor and always had a smile on his face for anyone who needed it. He was loved by family and friends and will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be held at Wesley Memorial United Methodist church on South College Road Monday August 12th from 2-3 p.m., with a memorial service following at 3 p.m. The Rev. Judy Jeremias and Pastor Tom Dean will officiate. An inurnment is scheduled at Greenlawn Cemetery immediately following the service.

Sgt. Eric Daniel Cobb Hobson Jr., 33, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He was born in Cumberland County on January 7, 1980 to Tereascia Maynor and the late Eric Daniel Cobb Sr. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Dorothy Mainor Ross, Fayetteville and Conward and Icerlean Cobb, Raeford.

George T. Scheel
George T. Scheel of Raeford died July 31, 2013 at Autumn Care of Raeford at the age of 75.
He was born July 23, 1938 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland to the late Thomas Francis Scheel and Nettie Elizabeth Russell Scheel. He was retired from the US Air Force.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lois Scheel.
He is survived by daughters, Connie Jones of Lincoln, Nebraska, Sharon Miller of Warrensburg, Missouri, Jody Gilfillan of Lincoln, Nebraska, Dixie Scheel of Saxapahaw, and Somer Stevens of Cary ; a sister, Fran Napfel of Edgewater, Maryland; seven grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel 131 Harris Ave. Raeford.

Russell K. Lyle
Russell Kenard Lyle, Jr. of Raeford died Saturday August 3, 2013 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center at the age of 56.
He was born in Germany on January 24, 1957 to the late Russell Kenard Lyle, Sr. and Doris Ansel Cribb Lyle. He was a member and past president of the Carolina Road Riders Motorcycle Club.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Dottie) M. Lyle of Raeford; a brother Ronald (Ron) Keith Lyle, Jr. (Margaret) of Raeford; a sister Sharon Ann Laundry (David) of Drummond Island, Michigan; a sister-in-law Sharon Pruitt (Dale) of Hope Mills; and several nieces and nephews.

She was born June 3, 1921 in Robeson County to the late Daniel Peter McKellar and Annie Quick McKellar. She is preceded in death by her husbands, James G. McFadyen and Gus Parker, and her son David McFadyen, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Norma Parker Strother of Raeford; her son, Gary B. Parker and daughter-in-law, Otha T. McFadyen, both of Fayetteville; grandchildren, David G. McFadyen, Sheri C. Runfola, Keith T. McFadyen, Ronald R. Corrado, and Tracey M. Tugwell; and 12 Great-Grandchildren.
