Gerald D. "Jerry" Hayes

Gerald D. "Jerry" Hayes, 76, of Hartsville, South Carolina, died Saturday, March 9, 2013 at his home.
He was the son of the late Woodrow and Ethel Hayes of Raeford. He was preceded in death by his wife Ola Hayes, a sister, Helen Hayes King, and a brother, Edward "Ches" Hayes.
Surviving are his son Woody Hayes of Hartsville; a daughter, Paulette Hopkins of Hartsville; a sister, Linda Melton of Raeford; two brothers, David Hayes of Red Springs and Lindwood Hayes of St. Pauls; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Monday, March 11 at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel in Hartsville, with the Rev. Ed Griggs, the Rev. James Hopkins and the Rev. Eric Plyler officiating. Burial was in Westview Memorial Park Cemetery.

Katherine M. "Kitty" McDonald

Katherine M. "Kitty" McDonald, 90 of Fayetteville, died Wed. March 13, 2013 at Autumn Care of Fayetteville.
The funeral will be held, Friday, March 15, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Aaron Lakes Baptist Church with burial following in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are her daughter, Emma Lou Queen; a sister Frances Sills; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 14, 2013 from 7-9 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Stephen R. Sheffey

Stephen Ray Sheffey of 712 Myra Road went home to be with the Lord March 11, 2013 at his residence at the age of 51.
He was born in Germany on December 13, 1961. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Sheffey. He graduated from Hoke High School where he was active in the late '70s and performed many solos with his trumpet. He was an avid magazine collector. He enjoyed long walks on the beach. He worked in the silk screening industry most of his life.
Survivors are his father, Robert S. Sheffey of Raeford; his brother, Bobby Sheffey and his wife, Nancy of Ponce Inlet, Florida; one niece, Miranda Sheffey of Ponce Inlet, Florida; one nephew, Sawyer Sheffey of Ponce Inlet, Florida; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Ave, Raeford.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Sandy Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Carrie L. Ferguson

Carrie Lee Ferguson, 79, of Raeford, died Thursday, March 7, 2013.
A graveside was held Thurs. Mar 14 at 2 p.m. in McLaughlin Chapel Church cemetery.

Priscilla B. Edens

Priscilla B. Edens, 50, of Raeford, died Saturday, March 9, 2013.
Survivors are: husband, Billie; son, Samuel Brunson; stepson, Corey; stepdaughter, Katina Scurlock; mother, Martha Beatty; five sisters; four brothers; four stepgrandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.
The funeral will be held Thurs. Mar.14 at 3 p.m. in Freedom Chapel AME Zion Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Viewing will be today, Mar. 13 from 1 to 7 p.m. at Buie Funeral Home chapel in Raeford.

Wade H Paul

Wade Hampton Paul, 80, died peacefully in his sleep Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the home of his daughter.
He was born February 15, 1933 in Anson County, a son of the late William Isom Paul and Sarah Williams Paul. He was retired from Burlington Industries in Rockingham with 25 years of service and he and his late wife, Lena enjoyed spending time at the Rockingham Flea Market.
Surviving are his daughters, Teresa Dolak and Juanita Lear both of Lilesville; his grandchildren, Lori Dennis of Albemarle, Gary Lear of Polkton, Fretia Flinchum of Rockingham and Tanuya Boatwright of Lilesville; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bobby Paul of Wadesboro; and his sisters-in-law, Matilda Paul of Wadesboro and Pauline Deese of Lilesville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Lena Miller Paul on February 7, 2013 and by his brothers and sister, Phillip, Luther, Shorty, Linwood and Florence Paul.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home, Wadesboro. Interment will follow in Lilesville Cemetery.
The family will greet friends Tuesday one hour prior to the service and other times at the home of his daughter.

Debbie A. Sharp

Debbie Andrews Sharp of Red Springs died, Thursday, March 7, 2013 in her home at the age of 53.
She was born in Middlesex County, Massachusetts on January 3, 1960 to Robert Victor Andrews and Mary Tena Farrell Andrews. She proudly served in the U.S. Army and attended jump school in Fort Benning, Georgia. She was a wonderful mother who enjoyed spending quality time with her family. Some of her other hobbies include water ballet, riding horses, karate, and gardening. She extended her education and received her degree as a License Practical Nurse.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Terry H. Sharp of Red Springs; a daughter, Lorraine S. Hardman and her husband Josh of Fayetteville; two sons, Robert J. Sharp of Red Springs, and Matthew R. Sharp of Red Springs; her parents, Robert V. and Mary Tena Farrell Andrews of Ashland, Massachusetts; her brothers, James Andrews and his wife Lynn of Framingham, Massachusetts, and Bobby Andrews of Ashland, Massachusetts; her sisters, Clare McDonald of Ashland, and Mary Tena Andrews of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; and a grandchild, Jennaveve Hardman of Fayetteville.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 P.M., Monday, March 11, 2013 at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roger Burns officiating.
