William Wagoner

William James Wagoner passed away on October 27, 2023 in the care of FirstHealth Hospice.
He was born November 11, 1948 at Duke Hospital in Durham. He was the only child of Rebecca Lowe and James U. Wagoner.
He graduated from N.C. State University in 1971, where he met his wife, Dawn Harris Wagoner. He was employed by South Atlantic Services in Wilmington and Atlanta. The family moved to Laurinburg and he worked until retirement at WestPoint Stevens.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and feeding wild birds in the backyard. He was happiest when sharing outdoor activities with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn; son, Roger Wagoner of Greer, South Carolina; daughter, and son-in-law, Laurel and Chris Starkey of Aberdeen; grandchildren, Henry Wagoner, Ella Wagoner, William Starkey, Selena Starkey and Tyson Barnes.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2023 at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines. In lieu of flowers sent to the memorial service, please give to a church or charitable organization of your choice.
Services are entrusted to Boles Funeral Home of Southern Pines.

Bobby McDowell

Bobby Lee McDowell of Raeford died November 4, 2023, at the age of 83.
He was born March 29, 1940 in Durham County to the late Maxie and Gladys McDowell.
He served as Chaplain's Assistant Amour Division, Transportation, and Tank Commander in the Army National Guard. Just before retiring from the military, he became a licensed and ordained minister.
He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Rockfish. In his final days, he served as a Chaplain in the First Health Hoke Hospital.
Along with his parents, he was preceded by his grandparents, John Fuller and Ruth McDowell.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Audrey Williamson McDowell; daughter, Mary Elizabeth McDowell; mother-in-law, Marion Williamson; and aunt, Geneva McKeithan.
A visitation will be held from 12:30-1 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 3219 Lindsey Road, Raeford. A service will follow at 1 p.m. at the church with Tex Deaton and Tommy Underwood officiating. The burial will be in the Rockfish Tabernacle Church Cemetery with full military honors.

Monica Maynor

Monica Lisettaé Maynor of Shannon died Saturday, October 28, 2023 at the age of 24.
She was born July 17, 1999 to Lisa F. Maynor.
She was a graduate of Hoke County High School.
She is survived by her mother: Lisa Fontene Maynor of Shannon; her twin brother: Mychal Deonté Maynor of Shannon; a sister: Trinity Angelica Maynor of Shannon; a brother: Christian Isaiah Maynor of Shannon; maternal grandmother: Della Maynor of Raeford; paternal grandfather: Jerry Lowery of Shannon; a niece Ahmiya Maynor; a nephew: Elijah Maynor as well as a special friend Donald McLaurin.
Boles Funeral Home of Red Springs is serving the family.

Stephen Burns

Stephen Burns died October 31, 2023 at the age of 55. 
He was born March 13, 1968.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Burns; stepchildren: Michelle Carter, Michael Wilson; mother, Nancy Burns; sister, Laura Burns, three grandchildren; along with a host of other family and friends.
A celebration of life was held at noon Monday, November 6 at Friendship Grove FWB Church.
