Richard W. Keller

Retired SFC Richard William Keller, 79, passed away, September 14, 2016.

He was born in Harvey, North Dakota, March 26, 1937. He was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Keller.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Lorraine Keller and daughter Donna Jurek.

He retired from the U.S. Army in 1979, after 25 years of service.  His service duties included Vietnam and Korea.

He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Norton and her husband Don, and Dwanda Dalton, both of Raeford, a son, Daniel Keller and his wife Donna of Texas, and his son-in-law Glen Jurek of Texas.

He celebrated life with 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

The family will receive friends at his home, at 275 Deaton Rd., Raeford.

A memorial service will be held in Texas at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Kimberly Klemish

Kimberly Hope Klemish of Raeford went to be with her Lord on September 13, 2016 at the age of 46.

She was born in Cumberland County on July 30, 1970 to Richard E. Esslinger Sr. and Jean Dennis Esslinger. She loved the Lord and led many children and their families into closer communion with Him. She attended Christian Church of HOPE-Rockfish and was a founding partner of the Rockfish Christian Academy. She used her cancer as an opportunity to witness her faith, never doubting that she had been chosen to show those around her how great God is. She led many people to the Lord while she was receiving chemotherapy. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Klemish and their two daughters, Karoline and Kathleen, all of the home; her mother, Jean Esslinger of Fayetteville; her father, Richard E. Esslinger Sr. and his wife, Doris; her brothers, Richard Jr. of Florida, and Donald T. of Fayetteville; her sisters, Dawn Shu and her husband Monson of Eastover, and Lindsey Esslinger of Raleigh; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday, September 16 at the Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford.

The funeral will be held following the visitation the same day.

Ernestine B. Currie

Ernestine Burns Currie of Raeford died Monday, September 12, 2016 at the age of 92.

She was born in Maxton on July 6, 1924 to the late Ernest and Allie Duncan Burns.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Currie. She was a member of Raeford United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon C. Barnett and her husband Wayne of Eden, and Kathy Currie of Gig Harbor Washington; two grandchildren Keith Barnett (Sherry), and Kyle Barnett (Lisa); and a great-grandchild, Kian Barnett.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Raeford Cemetery.

The family will receive friends after the service at the gravesite.

George W. Wood

George Wilber Wood of Hillsborough, formerly of Raeford, died Saturday, September 10 at his home in Hillsborough.
He was born September 30, 1927 in Hertford to the late John Elmer and Beulah Benton Wood. He served as principal at Scurlock, West Hoke and South Hoke elementary schools in the 1970s and '80s.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Martha Gulledge Wood, children Mike Wood of Raeford and Martha Wood Brown (Andy Brown) of Hillsborough, and six granddaughters, Laura Brown Kendall, Carrie Wood Johnson, Lindsay Wood, Sarah Brown, Katherine Brown and Katie Wood. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Richard Coker and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Hillsborough United Methodist Church on Wednesday, September 14 at 2 p.m. Friends are welcome to visit the family at the home on Monday and Tuesday in the afternoon and after the service on Wednesday.
Arrangements are by Walkers Funeral Service.

Yolanda Moore

Yolanda Moore of Raeford died Monday, September 12, 2016 at the age of 77.

She was born June 12, 1939 in Peru. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Moore. She was a member of the Synagogue Beth-Shalom in Foxfire. She went on many adventures with her family.

She is survived by two sons, Carlos Moore and his wife Bonnie of Alvarado, Texas, and Richard Moore of McKinney, Texas; daughters Patricia "Patty" C. Santiago and her husband Robert of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Raquel Y. Swenson (Chon Bryan);  two sisters, Zaira Cholagh and her husband Andy and Carmel Willis, all of San Diego, California; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Ave. Raeford

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in the Raeford Cemetery.
