Betty Hottel

Betty Nell Faucette Hottel, 88, of Raeford, died on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at The Crossings at Wayside in Raeford.  
She was blessed to live most of her life in Raeford and enjoyed her time in the Hoke County School system as a teacher's assistant.  She was an active member of the First Baptist Church and involved with Bible Study Fellowship, and the Emmaus Community.  She enjoyed her role as Mimi to all her grandchildren and loved to bake chocolate chip bars for them every time she was with them.  Although Alzheimer's diminished her thoughts and memories, she always had a smile for others and a sweet disposition.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lonzie and Nellie Faucette, husband Charles Hottel and brother Billy Faucette. 
She is survived by her children John Hottel (Diane) of Fayetteville, Joanne Babyak (Rick) of Florida, Jay Hottel (Laura) of Eastover, and Joy Warren of White Lake; grandchildren Jason Hottel, Jenna Hottel, Brett Babyak, Cameron Watson, Jessica Johnson, Jamie Warren, Jordan Hottel, Julia Pope, Martin Hottel, Victor Hottel, and Andrew Townsend; and 6 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Raeford, 333 North Main Street, Raeford, NC  28376.

Janice T. D'Amico

Janice T. D'Amico of Raeford died Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center at the age of 75.
She was born in Rockingham on May 13, 1945 to the late J.R. Threatt and Bernice Thomas Threatt. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Rodney Threatt, Jimmy Threatt and Jerry Threatt.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Patrick R. D'Amico of Raeford; three sons, Billy H. Barefoot Jr. and his wife Julie of Southern Pines, David R. Barefoot and his wife Michelle of Raeford and Greg T. Barefoot and his wife Tricia of Poughkeepsie, New York; two daughters, Cindy Barefoot-Crow and her husband Lewis of Fayetteville, and Natalie B. Spencer and her husband Gary of Raeford; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Jean Newton and her husband Philip of Raeford, Sharon Stone and her husband Ron of West End, and Linda Threatt of Raeford.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 19, 2020 from 1-3 p.m. at Crumpler Funeral Home, Raeford. The funeral will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Baker officiating. 
Burial will be in the Philippi Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Edna D. Weaver

Edna Daniels Weaver of Raeford died May 4, 2020 at Open Arms Retirement Home at the age of 99.
She was born May 3, 1921 in Scotland County to the late Vernon and Bertha Daniels. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Wilson Weaver. She was a member of Raeford First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the Garden Club and was a Brownie Scout Leader. 
She is survived by a son, Robert Malone Weaver and his wife Becky of Roebuck, South Carolina; a daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Weaver Frazier of Seagrove; two grandchildren, Rodney Weaver and his wife Jennifer and Susan Oswald and her husband Will; and five great-grandchildren, Wilson Oswald, Ben Weaver, Eli Oswald, Charlie Weaver and Greta Oswald. 
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Raeford Cemetery.
