Cruz Samaniego

Cruz Samaniego of Raeford died Friday, June 26, 2015 in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital at the age of 87.

She was born in Puerto Rico on May 3, 1928 to the late Bernado Olmedo and Cruz Acer Olmedo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Samaniego, her sisters Rosa Lydia Bigsby, and Monserrate Molinary, and her brother, Domingo Olmedo.

She leaves behind her son, Simon Colon (Elsie) of Raeford; her daughter, Carmen Sosa of Los Angeles, California; her sister Adamina Gutierrez of Puerto Rico; and her granddaughter, Anna Colon.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel in Raeford.

The funeral will be at noon Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hector Diaz officiating. Burial will be in the Raeford Cemetery.

Mattie L. Watkins

Mattie Lee Richardson Watkins, 62, of Raeford, died Monday, June 22, 2015.
Survivors are: brother, Albert; sisters, Stella Buris, Lucellie Handon, Lezzie Richardson, Rosa Richardson, Geneva Richardson, Alma Ray and Lillie Burt.
The funeral will be held Saturday, June 27 at 2 p.m. in Crumpler Funeral Home in Red Springs. Burial in East Lawn Cemetery.

 Viewing will be held Friday, June 26 from 1 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

 

Ethel Graham

Ethel Graham, 79, of Raeford, died Saturday, June 6, 2015.
Survivors are: husband, Walter; daughter, Arbedella Watkins; sisters, Bonnie Davis, Elsa Walls and Hazel Johnson; and a grandchild.
The funeral will be held Saturday, June 27 at 1 p.m. in Doby Funeral Home in Raeford. Burial  will be in Nassua Knolls Cemetery, Port Washington. 

Viewing will be held Friday, June 26 from 1 to 6 p.m. in Doby Funeral Home in Raeford.

 

Roland J. Walker

Roland June Walker, 78, of 137 Camelia St., died Friday, June 12, 2015.
Survivors are: sisters, Mickey Nichols, Maxine Mangum and JoAnn Walker-McEachin; and brothers, Thomas, Bob and Wilbert.
The funeral will be held Thursyda, June 25 at 3 p.m. in McLaughlin Chapel AME Zion Church.

 

Donna Miller

Donna Miller of Raeford, died Friday, June 19, 2015 at her home at the age of 53.

She was born September 21, 1961 in McLennan County, Texas to the late Norris Glynn Tucker and Patsy Ruth Tucker.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years Eugene Miller.

She is survived by her daughter Melissa Ann Pike and her husband Raul Sanchez Alegria of Raeford; two grandchildren Carlos Sanchez Alegria and Isabel Sanchez Alegria Pike; and a very dear friend Peggy Katherine. 

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2015 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church 2606 Laurinburg Rd. RaefordC.

Nancy M. Currie

Nancy M. Currie, of Red Springs, died Sunday, June 21, 2015, in Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton at the age of 71.
Mrs. Currie was born in Lumber Bridge on Sept. 8, 1943, to the late William Grady Marley and Rebecca C. Marley. She was a member of Antioch Presbyterian Church.
Survivors are: her dearly beloved husband of 50 years, Hector E. "Eddie" Currie of Red Springs; her son, Kenneth E. Currie and his wife, Gwendolyn, of Lumberton; her sister, Ann Wright and her husband, Bobby, of Arizona; two brothers, W.G. Marley Jr. and his wife, Frances, and Morris D. Marley and his wife, Beverly, both of North Carolina; two brothers-in-law, Billy Currie and his wife, Janet, and Harold Currie, both of Red Springs; three stepgrandchildren, Jared, Justin and Jessica; five great-stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015, in Antioch Presbyterian Church. Visitation will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Antioch Presbyterian Church, 6563 Red Springs Road, Red Springs, NC 28377; or to West Lumberton Baptist Church, 2320 W. 5th St., Lumberton, NC 28358.

Corey N. Hailey

Corey Nakelya Hailey, 39, of Raeford, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015.
Survivors are: sons, Dakelya, Dremond, Verwayne McGregor and Trayvon; daughters, Cordasia, Caliyah, Coriana, Tameya Bruce and Nacorce; father, Gillis Sr.; and sisters, Tabetha, Tammy and Lashonda.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, June 23 at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Center Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in church cemetery. 

Visitation will be held Monday, June 22 from 6 to 8  at Crumpler Funeral Home in Red Springs.
