Betty Lou Taylor

Betty Lou Townsend Taylor of Red Springs died December 25, 2023 at the age of 92.

She was born June 1, 1931 in Pennsylvania to the late Harold and Bessy Townsend.

She was a devout member of the Red Springs First Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling including to 48 states, all over Western Europe, and Northern Africa. She was a dedicated wife and a loving, caring, and compassionate mother, and grandmother. She was well-liked and loved and always had a smile on her face.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Howard Taylor.

She is survived by her two children, Martha Jane Taylor and Jack Harrison Taylor; grandchildren, Megan Maag-Branham, and Aaron Harrison Taylor; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Jayne Maag-Smith, Jaylee Michelle Fulmer, and Jayjeet Fulmer.

A visitation was held from 1-2 p.m. January 6, 2024, at the Red Springs First Baptist Church. A memorial service followed at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Red Springs First Baptist Church. Online memorials may be made on the Crumpler Funeral Home website.

Onteris Owens-Campbell

Onteris Javar Owens-Campbell died December 29, 2023 at the age of 19.

He was born January 15, 2004.

He is survived by his parents, Kimberly D. Campbell and James Harold Owens; siblings: Jiovanni McNeil, Kimera McNeil, Harold D. Owens, Sabeon N. Campbell; along with a host of other family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 13 at the Cape Fear Conference B Headquarters.

Norman Johnson

Norman Johnson died December 28, 2023 at Betsy Johnson Hospital at the age of 59.

He was born October 21, 1964.

"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." Psalm 23:4

He is survived by a son, Norman Fairley (Samantha); two sisters, Christine Adams and Brenda Leach; one brother, Leewood Johnson; and five grandchildren. 

A viewing was held from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Doby Funeral Home. A funeral was held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2024 at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Maxton. Burial was at Daniels Deliverance Faith Temple Cemetery in Raeford.
