Joyce C. Monroe
Ellen G. Dew
Ellen G. Dew, 75, passed away June 20, 2016 in her home of 48 years with her family near. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Cora Mae Jackson, her brothers, Charles Edward and Roscoe, Jr. Jackson, and her sister, Carole Hagins.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Fred K. Dew Sr.; her son, Fred K. Dew Jr.; her daughter, Amanda G. Dew; her brother, William R. Jackson; her sisters Tondea Jackson and Gena Jackson; and a large family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She grew up in Hoke and Robeson counties and graduated from Parkton High School in 1958. She was a gifted pianist and could play anything by ear. She loved music and sang many duets with her sister while growing up in Lumber Bridge. She brought joy to a room with her musical abilities.
She loved her home, her family and God. Every holiday and any special occasion brought a twinkle to her eye. She made sure her entire house was decorated for each event. Her home brought her great pride and joy.
She was an active member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church and was a member of the choir. She loved being part of the Singing Christmas Tree. She loved to help with Sunday School for the children and loved to hold the babies which always brought her peace.
She loved nature and the outdoors. She had a gift for growing plants and flowers. She spent many happy hours tending to all of her roses and flowers.
Her life will be remembered and celebrated at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 28 at Crumpler Funeral Home,131 Harris Ave. Raeford, with the Rev. Tom Lee officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service between beginning at 3 p.m. at Crumpler Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Raeford Cemetery.

Melva B. West
Melva B. West, age 84, of Aberdeen, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, June 20, 2016.
She was born to Lillian Hailey Hodges and Melvin Geno Hodges in Surry County, October 28, 1931. She married William E. (Bill) West on July 4, 1951. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, brother Bobby Brown, sister Dorothy McMillan, and sister Betty Mims. She graduated from Hoke High School and lived and worked for many years in Raeford, first at Burlington Industries and later at Raeford Dry Cleaners. She and Bill moved to Moore County in 1972. She worked until her retirement at Carters Dry Cleaners in Southern Pines. She was a long-time Sunday school teacher at Bible Tabernacle Church where she taught and watched so many of her little ones grow up, marry, and have children of their own.
She is survived by her daughter Billie Sue Clippard (Chip) of Aberdeen; granddaughters, Melody Mills of Cullowhee, and Meagan Severance (Scott) of Knoxville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Tyler Prather (Kaitlyn) of Clover, South Carolina, Ashleigh, Mckenzie, and CJ Mills of Aberdeen, and Walker and Sydney Severance of Knoxville; sisters Margaret Pope of Aberdeen, Patricia Patermoster of Wolcott, Connecticut, and sister-in-law Mildred Brown of Aberdeen; and aunts Gray Garrett and Judy Martin. She also left behind many very special nieces and nephews.
A small, informal graveside service will be held Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the Bible Tabernacle Church Cemetery in Whispering Pines at 11 a.m.

Bobby Lee Campbell
Bobby Lee Campbell, 76, of Lillington, formerly of Raeford, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 16, 2016.
He was born in Horry County, South Carolina on November 18, 1939 to the late Maxie Clayton Campbell and Minnie Estelle Scott. He grew up and attended school in Hoffman. He is a veteran of the United States Navy. He resided in Hoke County for the majority of his life and retired with 30 years of service from Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
He enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, collecting classic cars, and caring for his beloved animal companion, Nosey. Those who knew him were touched by his friendly and down-to-earth nature. He will be sorely missed, but will live forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter Sharon Arnold and her husband Frankie Arnold of Lillington; his daughter Gloria Baxley and her partner Wilbert Myers of Raeford; his son Glen Campbell and his partner Jonathan Barker of Myrtle Beach; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his sister Ruby Roberts and her husband Joe Roberts of Westfield, Massachusetts.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister; his son, Ken Campbell; and his wife of 51 years, Sarah Martin Campbell.
A private graveside ceremony was held in Raeford Cemetery. Care of the family was entrusted to Crumpler Funeral Home of Raeford.
