Charles R. Chason Sr. passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 1, 2014 at the age of 80.
He was born in Cumberland County, October 20, 1933 to the late Charles Pierson Chason and Ardena McFadyen Chason.
He was member of Galatia Presbyterian Church, and was the owner and operator of Chason's Lawn Mower Repair.
Survivors are his wife Dot Chason of Raeford; a son Charles Chason,Jr. and his wife Lorie of Raeford; a daughter Sharon Thompson and her husband Doug of Apex; two granddaughters, Katie Chason and Sarah Chason; and one grandson Jon Thompson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 from9-10:45 a.m. at Galatia Presbyterian Church.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Galatia Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Shuford White officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Galatia Presbyterian Church 8800 Galatia Church Road Fayetteville, NC 28304.

Willie L. McEachin
Willie Lee McCall McEachin, 88, of 6591 Walter Gibson Road in Red Springs, died Wednesday, December 24, 2013 in her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Miles Dudley; and three sons, Miles Franklin, James Henry, and Wilson McEachin.
Survivors are: daughters, Lucille Fuller and her husband Norman of Chesapeake, Virginia, Bernice McEachin of South Holland, Illinois, and Jacqueline Woods of Tucson, Arizona; son, Otto McEachin of the home; niece, Deborah McDonald of Raeford; sister Essie McMillian of Raeford; sister-in-laws, Hilda Mae Mclean of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and Ruth Valentine of Markham, Illinois; brother-in-law, Leroy Gillespie of Red Springs; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
The funeral was held Monday, December 30 at noon in Center Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Red Springs with the Rev. Dr. Samuel Norman officiating. Burial was in church cemetery.

Odessa L. Hagler
Odessa L. Hagler, 93, of 831 Loop Road, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013.
Survivors are: caretaker, Kenneth Purcell; a niece; and several grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Thursday, January 2 at 11 a.m. in Avery Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be in church cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 1 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Purcell Funeral Home in Southern Pines.

Bonnie A. Niven
Bonnie A. Niven, 90, of Raeford, died suddenly of natural causes early Thursday evening December 26, 2013 at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. She was the last survivor of nine siblings of Daniel and Mary Vaughn Autry. She was a retired civilian employee with the Department of Defense at Fort Bragg. She worked during WWII as a parachute specialist at the Laurinburg-Maxton Army Air Base facility. She also worked as the church secretary for several years and as an LPN at various area facilities over the years. She was active in the church and was a regular Sunday school teacher until the last few years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. A. (Jake) Niven of Raeford in January 1966.
Survivors include one son, Graham and wife Sharon and numerous nieces and grandnieces.
A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, January 5, at 2 p.m. at the Raeford United Methodist Church.
