Mary A. Lee

Mary Alice Lee, of Red Springs, and Little River, South Carolina, died Friday, January 27, 2012 in Seacoast Medical Center in Little River at the age of 76.
She was born March 21, 1935 in Robeson County to the late William Long and Eva Miller Long. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. (Big Bird) Lee, and two sisters, Shirley Long, and Betty Jo Edwards. She was a member of Antioch Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of Circle Number One. She was a member of The Order of The Eastern Star in Red Springs, and was a volunteer for Hospice of Hoke County and Meals-On-Wheels in Red Springs.
Survivors include two daughters, Shelia L. Latta and husband Jerry of Bunnlevel and Amy L. Pechmann of Fayetteville; a grandson, Jayson L. Dixon of Asheville; and three dogs, Noah, Howie, and Little Bit.
The family will receive relatives and friends 1-2 p.m. Sunday at Antioch Presbyterian Church, 6582 Red Springs Road, Red Springs, NC 28377.
The funeral will at 2 p.m. at Antioch Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Michael McGhee officiating. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park, 2301 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville.

Mary Johnson

Mary Elizabeth Huneycutt Johnson, 82, of South Hargrave Street passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012 at The Brian Center of Lexington.
She was born in Moore County on December 20, 1929, to Frank Huneycutt and Mary Odell Sanders Huneycutt. She was a homemaker and a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Howard Perryman, Sammy Smith and Tommy Joe Johnson, who died January 6, 2012.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann Hollis of Beaufort and Faye Huff of Newport; one son, Charlie Perryman of Raeford; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Kathleen Jernigan of Dallas, Texas; one brother, David Huneycutt of Lumberton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, January 18 at Lexington City Cemetery by the Rev. Wayne Knight.

Lawrence Schultz

Lawrence Oliver Schultz of 430 Brock Road died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center at the age of 62.
He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 25, 1949 to the late Oliver Schultz and Edith Morris Schultz. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Schultz, and a sister, Janet Flick. He served in the U.S. Army and retired in 1986 at the rank of E7.
Survivors include his wife, Miko Schultz of Raeford; a son, Larry Schultz of Lexington, Kentucky; a daughter, Amy Schultz of Corolla; a brother, Kenneth Schultz and wife Jennifer of St. Louis; three sisters, Diane Quigley and husband Tom of Qulin, Missouri, Kathy Lewis and husband Anthony of Gravette, Arkansas, and Darla Bradshaw and husband Jr. of Qulin, Missouri.
The funeral was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 22 at White-Sanders Funeral Home Chapel in Qulin. Burial was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, on Monday, January 23.

Franklin Spessert

Franklin Allen Spessert of 403 West Prospect Avenue, Apt. 1, died Sunday, January 15, 2012 in his home at the age of 72.
He was born in Wood County, West Virginia on February 23, 1939. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, receiving two Purple Hearts, Bronze Star and a Silver Star. He was preceded in death by his father, Teddy Artenis Spessert, and a son, Franklin A. Spessert Jr.
Survivors include a son, Teddy Spessert; a daughter, Jillian Spessert; his mother, Nellie Loretta Brock; three brothers, Roger Lee Spessert, Teddy Artenis Spessert Jr. and Paul Brock; four sisters, Mary Blanche Miller, JoAnn Morgan, Nancy Rose, and Phyllis Sigley; and two goddaughters, Christine Chmura and Melissa Fraser.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, January 24 at Raeford Evangelical Methodist Church with Pastor Roger Burns officiating.

Maureen Revis

Maureen Mullis Reavis of 612 Health Drive died Monday, January 23, 2012 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst at the age of 84.
She was born in Hamilton County, Tennessee on February 14, 1927 to the late Arthur Alexander Mullis and Thelma Rebecca Bull Mullis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Albert Reavis, her sister, Gloria Estridge and her brother, William Mullis. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Stanley.
Survivors include two sons, the Rev. E.A. (Sonny) Reavis Jr. and wife Sharon of High Point, and William E. Reavis and wife Martha of Plymouth, Minnesota; two daughters, Darlene R. Clark of Raeford and Bronda R. Conner of Stanley; a brother, Joe Mullis and wife Shirlene of Statesville; two sisters, Cleo "Boots" Cloninger and husband Bob of Stanley, and Carol Jones of Harrisburg; six grandchildren, Chris Clark and wife Dorothy, Ryan Clark and wife Rosie, Brian Taylor, Christy Conner, Stacey Lundy and husband Kevin, and Sarah Reavis; and four great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Nicolle, Caden, and Carlene.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 25 at First Baptist Church, Raeford with the Rev. Thomas Lee and the Rev. Archie Stevens officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ward Street Mission United Methodist Church, 1619 West Ward Avenue, High Point, NC 27260.

Opal C. Gregory

Opal Collins Gregory of Dallas, Georgia, formerly of Raeford, died Monday, January 16, 2012 in her home at the age of 75.
She was born on August 5, 1936 in Surry County, North Carolina to the late Clinton Harvey Collins and Opal Irene Cobler. She was preceded in death by her brother, Clinton Harvey Collins Jr. She was a member of Community United Methodist Church.
Survivors include the love of her life, Arthur K. Shuler; three daughters, Debbie Ganns and husband Kevin of Woodstock, Georgia, Karen Leonard and husband Rick of Cumming, Georgia, and Tina Kaercher and husband Steve of Gainesville, Florida; a brother, James Collins of Graham; three sisters, Nancy Cox and husband Tom of Knoxville, Iowa, Betty Barefoot and husband James of Raeford, and Laura Collins of Sanford; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 18 at Community United Methodist Church with Pastor Gil Wise officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery
