Norman "Skeeter" McNeill

Norman "Skeeter" C. McNeill of Raeford was surrounded by his family when he went to be with the Lord on April 15, 2013.
He was born in Hoke County on August 30, 1941 to the late Jasper Hines McNeill and Mamie Galbert McNeill.
From the union of Norman and Carolyn Wilson, two children were born—a son, Willie, who preceded him in death, and a daughter, Regina McNeill of Red Springs; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his brother, Leroy McNeill and one aunt, Hosea Galbert Henderson, both of Baltimore, Maryland.
Three brothers. Jasper Jr., Lawrence, and Willie, and two sisters, Mary Lee and Lois McDuffie, preceded him in death.

Jeffrey L. Davis

Jeffrey Lentz Davis passed away unexpectedly of natural causes in his home in Wilmington on Tuesday, April 16th. He loved his family and was an exceptional father to his son, Jordan. He excelled in computer systems sales and management for several large corporations in Raleigh, Charlotte, and Charleston. He was employed by New Hanover County Emergency Management at the 911 Center in Wilmington. He was born in Pinehurst. He was a member of the Little Chapel on the Boardwalk where he served as an elder. He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Carson Davis, Jr., his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Carson Davis, his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Crawford Lentz Thomas, and a favored uncle, Crawford Lentz Thomas, Jr.
He is survived by his son, Jordan Thomas Davis of Wilmington, his mother, Iris Thomas Davis of Wilmington, his brother Theodore Marshall Davis and wife Linda Mercer Davis of Wilmington, nephews Marshall Benton Davis, Owen James Davis, and Russell Walter Davis all of Wilmington, and a cousin, Mary Gwen Thomas Welborn of Raeford.
A service of the celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Friday April 19, 2013 at Little Chapel on the Boardwalk in Wrightsville Beach.
A graveside service will be held 11a.m. Saturday April 20, 2013 at Raeford Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request gifts and memorials be made to Little Chapel on the Boardwalk Presbyterian Church USA at 2 West Fayetteville St., Wrightsville Beach, NC 28480.

Edward. W. Valentine

Retired Army Master Sgt. Edward William "Ed" Valentine Jr., of Raeford, died Saturday, April 13, 2013.
Survivors are: wife, Agnes; daughter, Wendy Tate; son, Joseph Mancuso; and a granddaughter.

Joel Dial Sr

Joel Dial Sr., 91, of 8409 Red Springs Rd., died Tuesday, April 16, 2013.
Dial was a Navy veteran.
Survivors are: son, Joel Jr.; daughter, Shirley Day; sister, Darcus Riley; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
The funeral will be held Fri. Apr. 19 at 2 p.m. in Mt. Elim Baptist Church in Orrum. Burial will be in church cemetery.
Visitation will be today, Apr. 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home.

Rosa McPhaul

Rosa McPhaul, 67, of Raeford, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013.
Survivors are: son, Tamecko Stephens; sisters, Helen Monroe, Bobbie Vivian, Magaline Talley; brothers, Herman, John, Delcie and Harrison; and a grandson.
The funeral will be held Thurs. Apr. 18 at 2 p.m. in Center Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Red Springs. Burial will be in church cemetery.
Viewing is today Apr. 17 from 1 to 7 p.m. at Buie Funeral Home in Raeford.

Joe D. Stephens

Joe David Stephens, age 87 of Supply, died Monday in his home. Born in Columbus County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Florrie Fowler Stephens. He was preceded in death by his former wife Euzena Walters Stephens, a daughter Zelda Stephens, and a granddaughter Melanie Pittman.
He is survived by his wife Eliza Fowler Stephens of Tabor City; two daughters, Betty Pittman (Melton) of Supply and Kathryn Pittman (Roy) of Raeford; a sister Hazel Arnette of Tabor City; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 17 from 6-8 p.m. in Inman Funeral Home of Tabor City. The funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Dogwood Hill Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Philippi Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Raeford. A guestbook is available at inmanfuneralhome.com

Sarah M. Campbell

Sarah Martin Campbell, 72, of 611 West Ivey Street, Lillington, formerly of Raeford, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 15, 2013.
She was born in Robeson County on May 21, 1940 to the late John Elza Martin and Destia Phillips Martin. She resided in Hoke County for the majority of her life where she attended Hoke High School and worked at local factories including Burlington Mills and Chesebrough-Ponds.
She was a devoted wife and loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She had faith in Jesus Christ and believed with all her heart in God's grace and love. Those who knew her were touched by her sweet nature and kind spirit. She will be sorely missed, but those who love her take great comfort in knowing that she is now at peace.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bobby Campbell of Lillington; her daughter Sharon Arnold and her husband Jesse F. Arnold, Jr. of Lillington; her daughter Gloria Baxley and her husband Roscoe Baxley, Jr. of Raeford; and her son Glen Campbell and his partner Jonathan Barker of Myrtle Beach. Surviving grandchildren are Jennifer Minnick of Florence, South Carolina, Paul Minnick, Jr. and Renee Minnick of Fayetteville, Stephen Arnold and his wife Abbie Arnold, and Bradley Arnold and his partner Courtney Hayter of Lillington, and Crystal Campbell and Kristopher Campbell of Fayetteville. Surviving great-grandchildren are Promise Minnick and Starr Minnick of Florence, Kristian Minnick, Brandon Minnick, and Tonkyawa Barbour of Fayetteville, and Madyson Arnold and Lane Arnold of Lillington. Surviving sisters are Eunice Herring of Raeford and Betty Shaw of Fayetteville. Sarah is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, three sisters, and by her son, Ken Campbell.
A private graveside ceremony will be held in Raeford Cemetery. Care of the family is entrusted to Crumpler Funeral Home of Raeford.

Doris Locklear

Doris Locklear, 75, of 370 Hendrix Road, died Friday, April 12, 2013.
Survivors are: children, Marcus Cox, Belinda, Khristina, Paula Hall; brother, Wilbur Hemingway; nine grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Wed. Apr. 17 at 2 p.m Wednesday in Heritage Funeral Home in Red Springs. Burial will be Locklear family cemetery.
Visitation will be tonight, Apr. 16 from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Charles L. Frazer

Charles Lee Frazer, of Raeford, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013.
Survivors are: wife, Cathy; daughter, Erika; sons, Charles Hinton, Omar Little, Rahmel, Rashaun; brothers, Lawrence, Tyrone, Milton and Steven; sister, Lillian Stewart; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The funeral will be held Wed. Apr. 17 at 2 p.m. in Leach Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in church cemetery.

Angus (Gene) McArthur

Angus (Gene) McArthur, 82, of Tampa, Florida, formerly of Red Springs, died Thursday, April 11, 2013.
He was born in Raeford December 17, 1930 to the late Walter Henry McArthur and Irene Parks McArthur. He retired from the U.S. Air Force. His last tour of duty was 1969 to 1970 in Vietnam, and he was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a lifelong 32nd Mason and a Shriner. He was also a successful Realtor in Tampa.
He is survived by his wife Charlotte E. McArthur, a son Thomas and daughter-in-law Linda, granddaughter Sarah Anne, grandson William Angus, all of Tampa; and two sisters, Catherine Deese of Charlotte and Katie Clary of Raleigh.
A gravesite ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 150 John Russell Road, Raeford.
