Vicki Singletary

Vicki Singletary died November 28, 2023 at the age of 66.
She was born December 19, 1956.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mozell Frazier.
She is survived by her husband, Clayton Singletary; children: Christina McIntyre (Terell), Claymonte McNeill (Michelle); grandchildren: Siena McIntyre, Emory McIntyre, Camden McNeill; sisters: Mary Andrews, Jean Smith; brother, David Wiles along with a host of other family, friends and students whose lives she touched.
A celebration of life was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 5 at the Cape Fear Conference B Headquarters.

Dorothy Quick

Dorothy Oxendine Quick of Fayetteville died December 3, 2023 at the age of 88.
She was born September 6, 1935 in Pembroke to the late Lacy and Blanche Oxendine.
She was a founding member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church where she held many positions including teaching Sunday school and children's church, serving in the choir, and W.M.U. She was the owner and operator of Wee Care Daycare Center in Fayetteville for 10 years and a school teacher for Robeson and Hoke County for 25+ years. 
She loved teaching, the word of God, her family, and life. She was of the first graduating class from Pembroke College.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lacy M. Quick, and son Lacy T. "Boy" Quick.
She is survived by her daughters, Athena Quick (Sean) and Celena Q. Lindsay; grandson, Gabriel Lindsay; and adopted daughter, Jeannie Woods (Jerry). 
A visitation will be held from 11-noon Wednesday, December 6, 2023 in the Mount Calvary Baptist Church Sanctuary. A service will follow at noon at the church. Burial will be in the Culbreth Cemetery, 3930 Cleo Place, Fayetteville, North Carolina, 28306.

Lindora Parter

Lindora Parter died November 28, 2023 at the age of 57.
She was born January 19, 1966.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas Parter and the late Annie Ruth Shaw Parter. 
She attended school in the New York public school system and obtained her General Equivalent Diploma. Later in life she moved to Raeford. She was formally employed at the House of Raeford, Burlington Industries, JP Stevens, and McMurray Fabrics. She was a member of Church of Freedom under the leadership of Reverend E. Ash. To know her was to love her and she had a smile that would brighten any room.
She is survived by her son, Dezmen Parter (Denise); grandchildren, Jordyn, Jeremiah, and Cody; three aunts, Margaret Ray, Dorothea Sanford, and Mae Ray; one uncle, Roscoe Torrence; three special cousins, Cynthia, Linda Faye, and Greg, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.  Memorial service will be held at a later date.

Margaret Lindsey

Margaret Lindsey died November 28, 2023 at the age of 89.
She was born May 17, 1934.
She is survived by her children: Mary Anne McRae, Fannie McLean, Cheryl Lindsey; sister, Mabel Strickland; 10 grandchildren along with a host of other family and friends.
The family received friends at the funeral home Sunday, December 3.
A celebration of life was held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 4 at St. James United Church of God.


Calvin Ely

Calvin D. Ely died November 27, 2023 at the age of 52.
He was born September 10, 1971. 
He was preceded in death by his father, James C. Ely Jr.
He is survived by his wife, LaShonda Ely; children: C'Alvion A. Ely, Calvin D. Ely II; mother, Ellen Ely; siblings: Cassandra Ely-McGregor, James C. Ely III along with a host of other family and friends.
A celebration of life was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 3 at Leach Springs Missionary Baptist Church.

Mary Aguilar

Mary Lee Chavis Sosa Aguilar, formerly of Lumber Bridge, died Sunday, December 3, 2023 at the age of 50.
She was born Sunday, May 6, 1973 in Scotland County to the late Walter Purnell Chavis and Carrie Bell Chavis.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by a brother, Shawn Evans.
She is survived by her husband, Juan David Sosa Aguilar of Lumber Bridge; daughter, Carrie E. Mitchell of Lumberton; two sons, Williere P. Chavis and David W. Mitchell, both of Rowland; four brothers, Timmy Chavis of Rowland, Jimmy Chavis and Josh Chavis both of Fairmont, and Glendale Oxendine of Shannon; one sister, Suzanne Chavis of South Carolina; and special friends Ann Maitland, Brook Lee, Suzanne Godwin, Zuly Perez, Maria Pleitez; 10 grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
