Kenneth Wayne Walker

Kenneth Wayne Walker died Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Hock Family Pavilion, at the age of 80.

He was born November 21, 1943 in Cumberland County, the son of the late Woodrow Wilson Walker and Allie Elizabeth Walker.

He and his wife, Rebecca Ann Teal Walker, both grew up in Raeford and finished school at Hoke County High School. He then served four years in the United States Air Force and afterward moved to Durham. While working in Durham, they reconnected through mutual friends. That began an adventure that would last for the next 52 years.

Those who knew him well will remember his deep love for cars especially convertibles, Motown music, shaggin' to beach music, and good times with friends. He shared his love of jigsaw puzzles and will always be remembered for the conversations had over putting one together. His nephews fondly reminisce of summers sitting in his barber chair getting the best cut in town.

A devoted husband, warm hearted son, caring brother, adoring uncle, compassionate friend, and faithful retiree of the Red Cross.

He was preceded in death by his close brother, Randy Walker.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Ann Teal Walker; sister-in-law and brother-in-law John and Jean Harris of Cary; sister-in-law Linda Teal of Raleigh; nephews Jonathan Walker (Jessica) of Athens, Alabama; Ryan Walker of Winter Haven, Florida; Trey Walker of Lakeland, Florida; John Harris Jr. (Patti) of Acworth, Georgia; Michael Harris (Kimberly) of Raleigh; and niece Christy Harris (Lawrence) of Honolulu, Hawaii.

A service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central North Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross: 4737 University Drive Building 3, Durham, N.C. 27707, or the charity of your choice.
