Loriece Ledetter Ashburn, 88, loving mother, grandmother and widow of Randall Ashburn died Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at St. Andrews Assisted Living Center in Concord, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
Born October 22, 1933, in Fairview, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Ada Ledbetter. She grew up in Fairview and was one of 10 children. She graduated from Lee Edwards High School in Asheville in 1951, where she excelled in the classroom and played on the basketball and table tennis teams. After high school she moved to Washington, D.C. and later to Raleigh. She met Randall and they married in 1957, making a home in Raeford. She dedicated her adult life to caring for her family including her mother-in-law the late Nannie Ashburn. She always put her family first and is remembered as a wonderful cook and baker, seamstress and one that always made others feel better. She was a devoted member of Raeford United Methodist Church and long-time Sunday School teacher and volunteer. She worked for many years as the administrative assistant for the Plant Manager of Burlington Industries in Raeford.
She is survived by daughter Kathy Ashburn Archer and husband Charles of Raleigh; son Randy Ashburn and wife June of Concord; four grandchildren, Dr. Christopher Archer of Charlotte, Kaitlyn Archer Ballance and her husband Brandon of Raleigh, Dillon Ashburn and his wife Tori, of Knightdale, and Nicole Ashburn of Charleston, S.C. She is also survived by her brother, Howard Ledbetter and two sisters, Ruth Albertson and Helen Armfield. She is predeceased by her brothers George, Glenn, Marvin and her sisters Bernie, Leona and Sarah.
There will be private graveside ceremony for immediate family only in Raeford, NC.

Betty Barefoot
Betty Nealy Barefoot of Raeford died Thursday, December 30, 2021 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst at age 86.
She was born on March 22, 1935 in Scotland County, to the late C.E. and Roby Nealy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Barefoot, and her son, Eddie Barefoot. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Raeford.
She is survived by her son, Randy Barefoot, of Raeford; her daughter-in-law, Cathy Barefoot, of Matthews; her grandson, Brandon Barefoot, and his wife, Leslie, of Morehead City; her granddaughter, Ashley Barefoot, of Raleigh; her granddaughter, Chelsea Hughes, and her husband, Brad, of Charlotte; her four great-grandchildren, Hudson Barefoot, Harper Barefoot, Camden Hughes, and Beckett Hughes; and her sister, Doney Hogan, and her The funeral will be at 2 pm in the church sanctuary, officiated by the Rev. Thomas Lee. Burial will be in the Raeford Cemetery.
