Fran Davis

Fran Smith Sharpe Davis of Enterprise, Alabama died peacefully at the Madison Heights Assisted Living Facility on the evening of Friday May 8, 2020 at the age of 83. 
She was born on March 12, 1937 in LaGrange, Georgia to William Franklin Smith and Sadie Ruth Thomas Smith. She graduated from Troupe County High School in 1955. She attended Massey Business College in Jacksonville, Florida and later  received her associate degree in Business and Accounting from Enterprise State Junior College. After moving to Enterprise in 1962, she raised her family and was the longtime business manager for Wiregrass Radiology Associates
She was preceded in death by her husband, Major (Ret.) Conrad Wayne Davis of Enterprise, Alabama.
She is survived by her daughters, Celeste Sharpe Guillot and her husband Robert C. Guillot of Raeford, and Lori Sharpe Peck and her husband Troy M. Peck Sr. of Lake Martin, Alabama; grandchildren, Troy M. Peck II and spouse Sami of Atlanta, Georgia, Robert C. Guillot III of Raeford, Hunter S. Peck of Auburn, Alabama, and Caroline E. Ball and her spouse Brandon of Pinebluff. She is also survived by her sister Julie Smith Wimbish of Thomasville, Georgia. 
The funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday May 13, 2020 at Searcy Funeral Home Chapel, with graveside service to follow.

Fred White

Fred J. White, 77, of Raeford died peacefully on May 2, 2020. 
He was born in Lee County on July 9, 1942, son of the late Fred and Mary (Pearson) White. He was a true man devoted to his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his partner, Wanda Kirk; two sons, Keith and Fred White; two brothers, Danny and Lewis White; and his aunt, Alice Norris.

He is survived by his son, Terry White; three daughters, Melody White, Regina Martin, and Renee Fischer; his sister, Mary A. MacKey and husband Roy; his brother Paul D. White and wife Linda; and his faithful companion, Alex who was by side to the end.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Delbert G. Ragsdale Sr.

Delbert Gordon Ragsdale Sr., 103, of Asheboro died Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Randolph Hospice House.

He was born in Randolph County on May 10, 1916 to Asbury Martin and Bertha Trogdon Ragsdale. He was a 1934 graduate of Asheboro High School. He worked at Acme-McCrary and then he and his wife moved to Norfolk, Virginia where he worked in the shipyard. He then joined the U.S. Navy and served his country during WWII. He was employed with Vestal Ford for more than 40 years, working in the parts department, as a salesman, and as assistant sales manager. He was a member of Brower's Chapel United Methodist Church.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Helen Styers Ragsdale, brother, B.T. Ragsdale, and sisters, Cleta Mae Kearns, Ethelene Charnock, and Daisy Vestal. He is survived by his sons, Delbert Gordon Ragsdale Jr. and wife Julie, and Philip Ragsdale and wife Jane, all of Raeford; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Braswell and husband Keith of Moravian Falls, and Susan Ragsdale of Asheville; a great-granddaughter, Katherine Braswell of Moravian Falls; and sister, Faedene R. Maness of Asheboro. A private graveside service was held on Sunday, May 10, 2020, his 104th birthday. James E. Douglas

James E. Douglas of Raeford died Saturday, May 9, 2020 at the age of 89.
He was born on September 22, 1930, son of the late Earnest B. and Fleeta Stewart Douglas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Johnsie Richardson Douglas, his daughter Barbara Douglas and his granddaughter, Jacqueline Burley.
He was a member of Raeford First Baptist Church and lifetime deacon. He retired from Burlington Industries with more than 42 years of service. He loved his family, was a hard worker, and was a garden and outdoor enthusiast.  
He is survived by a daughter Carolyn D. Caddell of Raeford; two sons, Allen K. Douglas and wife Debra of Raeford, and Richard S. Douglas of Carthage; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, JoAnne Maness of El Paso, Texas and Joy Lee Hash of Sanford.
A private graveside service will be held at Pineywood Baptist Church Cemetery in Cameron.

Kenneth Purcell

Kenneth M. Purcell, owner of Purcell Funeral Home & Cremation Services LLC, died Saturday, May 9, 2020. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2020, at Serenity Memorial Park Cemetery in Raeford. A public viewing will be held Tuesday noon to 8 p.m. at Purcell Funeral Home in Southern Pines, and Wednesday, May 13, 2020, from noon until 8 p.m. at Purcell Funeral Home in Laurinburg.
