Pamela Lindsley

Pamela Norton Frederick Lindsley died Tuesday, August 12, 2020 in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital at the age of 61.
She was born on May 12, 1959 to the late Carl Lester Norton and Sara Louise Lee Norton. She was preceded in death by her first husband Gary Frederick and a sister Elizabeth (Lib) McVicker.
She is survived by her husband, Alan Lindsley of Raeford; a son, Nevin Frederick of the home; three brothers, Billy Norton and his wife Myra of Lumberton, Don Norton and his wife Debbie of Raeford and Dale Norton and his wife Jill of Virginia Beach,Virginia; two step-sons Stephen Lindsley of Hope Mills, and Evan Lindsley of Fayetteville; two step-daughters, Sarah Lindsley of Middleport, Ohio and Katherine Lindsley of Hope Mills; and nine grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 16, 2020 at the Raeford Evangelical Methodist Church, 379 West Palmer Street, Raeford, NC with Pastor Roger Burns and Pastor Toby Neal officiating.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
A graveside memorial committal service will be held at 4:30 Sunday at Shiloh Presbyterian Church Cemetery 6197 Aberdeen Road.

Nora V. Thompson

Nora Rachel Vanhoy Thompson, 95, died Monday, August 10, 2020, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Known as "Mama, Goo, Nora, Aunt Nora, Grandma, and Memee", she was born in Hoke County on May 12, 1925 to Robert Jasper and Rosa Belle Blalock Vanhoy. She was a homemaker, a member of Macedonia Presbyterian Church, and was famous for her chocolate pies, sop chocolate, homemade biscuits, cornbread, and coconut pound cake.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond Ervin Thompson; son, Ronnie Thompson; son-in-law, Ron Gagliardi; and brothers and sisters.
She is survived by daughters, Rachel T. Gagliardi and Rhonda T. Chappell and husband, Ken, all of Eagle Springs; daughter-in-law, Sharon Bean Thompson, of Seagrove; grandchildren, Sonya and Jay Crissman, Alan and Erica Thompson, Jay Auman, Glenn and Blair Auman, Margaret C. and Justin Gilliland, Evan Chappell, Becky and Chris Sluder, and Susie Gagliardi; great-grandchildren, Athan, Bradon, and Caibrey Thompson, Hannah Crissman, J.J. Auman, Nora Grace Auman, Andrew and Sara Gagliardi, Wilson Crowder, Mason and Emma Sluder; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 13, at Candor Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Jarman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Macedonia Presbyterian Church, PO Box 340, Candor, NC 27229.

Virginia Rainey

Virginia Cole Rainey of Raeford died peacefully on August 9, 2020 at FirstHealth of the Carolinas at age 83. 
She was born in Scotland County on September 25, 1936 to the late Joseph Walker Cole Sr. and Rosa Clark Cole Williamson. She was preceded in death by her husband Millard Rainey, her granddaughter Jessica Melton and her sister Betty Talbert. She was employed with Burlington Industry. She was a member of Raeford First Baptist Church. 
She is survived by a son Ricky Ward of Raeford; three daughters, Debbie Collins (Brent) of Wingate, Nicole Bell (Rick) of Raeford, and Kim Melton (Jeff) of Raeford; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joe (J.W.) Cole (Geneva) of Tennessee.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 550 Old Maxton Road, Raeford. 
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at the Raeford Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Lee officiating. Please wear and mask and apply social distance.

Billy (Bill) Currie

Billy (Bill) G. Currie of Raeford died August 9, 2020 at his home at age 87. 
He was born in Hoke County on January 24, 1933 to the late Hugh Ellis Currie and Bernice Frances Wright Currie. He was preceded in death by his wives Myrtle Green Currie and Ruth Morton Currie, and two brothers, Eddie Currie and Roger Wayne (Buck) Currie. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
He is survived by his sister, Frances C. Hawkins of Laurinburg, four brothers, Kenneth Currie and his wife Ruth and Ralph Currie all of Raeford, Tommy Currie and David Currie both of Wagram and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at noon Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at the Raeford Cemetery with Pastor Toby Neil and Paster Stephen Bennett officiating.
The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.

Richard Allen Archer

Richard Allen Archer—"Wolf Man"died Sunday, August 2, 2020 at age 62.
He was a loving husband, proud father, goofy grandpa, Harley riding accomplished Body Man, who was born in Washington County, Tennessee on Monday, April 7th, 1958 to the late Ivan Archer Sr. and Barbara Archer Gordy. He was married several times and finally to Darlene Clements. He was known as Papa, Grandpa, and G-Pa to more than 45 children.
He briefly served in the United States Army and ultimately became an accomplished auto collision repair technician.
He was proceeded in death by his stepfather, Charles Gordy, brother, Ivan Eugene Archer Jr., sister Brenda McCura, and two nephews.
He is survived by his wife Darlene Archer, his children Mark, Jennifer, Candice, Justin, Michael, and Duana, his brother Chuck Gordy and several nieces and nephews.  
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford.

Roger Brock

Roger Lynn Brock of Raeford died Thursday morning, July 30, 2020 at age 57.
He was born December 27, 1963 and attended Hoke County High School. He was a well-known handyman in the Dundarrach and Arabia communities. He was a jack of all trades and took a lot of pride in his work. 
He is survived by the "Jackson" family and friends. 
A memorial service officiated by Dwight Jackson, will be held at 10 a.m. August 17 at William and Helen Jackson's residence at 8170 N. Old Wire Road, Lumber Bridge, NC 28357.
