James Earl Jones

James Earl Jones passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 at his home in Brentwood, Tennessee surrounded by his family. He was born September 19, 1944 to John Allen and Willa Conoly Jones in Lumber Bridge. He graduated from Hoke High School. He served in the Navy during Vietnam before attending East Carolina University. He was a longtime resident of Brentwood, where he was a successful businessman, avid volunteer and devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Carol; sons, Christopher Neal Jones of Nashville and Michael Reed (Kristine) Jones of Pasadena, California; daughters, Kelly Anne Jones of Chattanooga and Kimberly Lynn Jones of Brentwood; granddaughter, Elena Arevik Jones; brothers, Whiteford and William Jones; sister, Catherine McNiell; sister-in-law, Barbara Jones all of North Carolina; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jesse and Robert Jones; and sisters, Anne Oliver and Mary Cobb. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, December 9 at Williamson Memorial, at 4 p.m., David Kidd officiating, with visitation two hours preceding the service (2-4 pm). An additional memorial will be held at Sandy Grove United Methodist Church in Lumber Bridge at a date to be announced.
