Louise C. King

Louise Currie King, age 74, passed away peacefully at her home in Raleigh,  surrounded by family, on Sunday, August 27, 2017.  She was born on August 19, 1943 to Albert and Eunice Currie of Hoke County. On May 30, 1964, she married Buddy Ray King, who also preceded her in death. They eventually settled in Raleigh, where she lived for the past 39 years. A graduate of Greensboro Women's college, she worked as a math teacher before transitioning into the field of computer programming.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was also an avid bridge player. One of her greatest joys was running the Vanderbilt Bridge Club,where she loved directing and supporting the Raleigh bridge community.  She is survived by her two children: Shannon King and her husband Mike Jenkins of Virginia, and Matt King and his wife Heidi of Raleigh. She also has four grandchildren who brought her great joy: CJ and William Paschall, and Noah Jenkins and AJ Quade.  Additionally, she had four sisters whom she dearly loved: Dot Humphrey and husband James of Raleigh, Pat Worsham and husband Jim of Bluefield, Virginia, Carolyn Ashley and her husband George of Youngsville, and Shirley Marshall, who lost her battle to ALS in 2002. She was also devoted to her many nieces and nephews who carried a special place in her heart.  Services will be private.
