Wilson McEachin

Wilson McEachin, 64, of Walter Gibson Road, died Sunday, September 29, 2013.
He is the son of the late Miles D. McEachin. Survivors are his mother, Willie Lee McEachin;  daughters, Renea Parker, Cori Walker, Patricia Gillespie, and Shameka; sisters Lucille, Bernice and Jacqueline McEachin; brother Otto McEachin; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Saturday, October 5 at noon in Center Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Viewing will be today, October 4, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Doby Funeral Home in Raeford.

Maggie Johnson

Maggie Johnson, 92, of Raeford, died Wednesday, October 2, 2013.
Survivors are: daughter, Bernadette Thomas; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Saturday, October 5 at 2 p.m. in McCormick Chapel Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will be in Johnson family cemetery.
Viewing will be today, October 4 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Buie Funeral Home in Raeford.

Hannah M. Lee

Hannah McMillan Lee of Raeford, age 87, died Wednesday October 2,2013 at Autumn Care of Raeford.
She was born April 24 ,1926 in Hoke County, to the late N.A. McMillan and Minnie Stubbs McMillan. She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Lee.
She was a member of the Raeford United Methodist Church. She retired from Burlington Industries in Raeford.
Survivors are three daughters, Laura L. Edmundson (Thomas) of Raeford, Doris Lee of Cary, and Sibyl Ringsdorf (Ted) of Pinehurst; a son, Robert Lee of Pinehurst; two sisters, Ardenia Davis of Lumber Bridge and Reeta Baker of Raeford; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday October 5, 2013 from 1-2 p.m. at Crumpler Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel in Raeford with the Rev. Dr. Stephen Castle officiating. Interment will be at the Raeford Cemetery.

Lisa F. Baker

Lisa Faye Baker 52 of Raeford died October 1, 2013 at UNC Chapel Hill.
She was born in Cumberland County on October 21, 1960.
She was preceded in death by her father Elwood Baker, her brothers, Doug Baker and Neil Baker, and her sister Carolyn Baker.
She is survived by her daughter Christy Baker, her son Shawn Baker, her mother Reeta Baker and one grandson Collin Creech.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at the Crumpler Funeral Home 131 Harris Ave. Raeford, NC.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Elma P. Williams

Elma Porter Williams, age 92, of Calabash, South Carolina, formerly of Raeford, slipped away peacefully from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 following an extended illness. She was born on July 17, 1921 in Loris, South Carolina to the late William Edward Porter and the late Olia Moore Cannon Porter. "Mrs. Elma" loved God, her family, singing, cooking, gardening and she had a delightful sense of humor. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, a member of First Baptist Church of Shallotte, and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her three daughters, Sonya Anderson and husband, Howard of Calabash, North Carolina, Betty Smith of High Point, and Linda Sims of Durham; her two sons, Larry Williams of Stockton, California and Harold Williams and wife, Cathy of Liberty, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Mark, Kevin, Brannon, Michael, Dale, Angel, Drew and Greg; six great-grandchildren, Emery, Cate, Julian, Logan, Jimmy and Eric; three sisters, Vera Graham of Myrtle Beach, Eva Edwards of Wilsonville, Alabama and Evelyn Gause of Marietta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene Williams; two brothers, Lacy and Garcy Porter; three sisters, Bertha Porter McDowell, Ruby Williamson and Maude Porter; and daughter-in-law, Georgia Williams.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Elder James Allen officiating. Committal services will follow at Antioch cemetery. Nathan Campbell Jr., 70, 1206 Fulton St., died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013.
Survivors are: sister, Louise Williams; and brother, Norman.

Frances M. Bullard

Frances Marie Bullard of Raeford died Sunday, September 29, 2013 in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital at the age of 62.
She was born in Tazewell County, Virginia on July 28, 1951 to the late Fritz Lee Murray and Thelma Burton Murray. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Bullard.
Survivors include her sons, Dannie Lee Jacobs (Barbara) of Maxton, and Corey M. Jacobs (Dawn) of Coral Springs, Florida; brothers, Arvin Horington (Mary) of Carthage, Leroy Murray(Sheree) of Michigan, Sam Murray of Virginia, Bob Murray (Sue) of Virginia, Bill Murray (Brenda) of Fayetteville, and Tim Murray of Raeford; sisters, Juanita Copper of Carthage, Mae Carroll (David) of Raeford, and Bernice Murray of Raeford; and five grandchildren, Shania Jacobs, Micheala Jacobs, Micheal Jacobs, Corey Jacobs, Jr., and Alex Jacobs.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Crumpler Funeral Home-Raeford.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2013 at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Raeford Cemetery.

Muriel Gourley

On September 28, 2013, Muriel Edna (Ford) Gourley passed into the joy of the Lord at four o'clock in the afternoon after a long illness at Devereux House in Marblehead, Massachusetts. She was a former resident of Rockfish and beloved wife of the late Earl Douglas Gourley.
She was born on October 4, 1926, in Windsor, Canada. She leaves two children: Patricia Anne (Gourley) Thornton and husband David of Swampscott, Massachusetts and Douglas William Gourley of Clinton Township, Michigan. She also leaves three grandchildren: Robert Douglas Bieda and his wife Tracey, Heather Anne Thornton and Nancy Gourley. She was blessed with four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and her beloved dog, Hans.
=There will be a viewing at Crumpler Funeral Home 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 2. The funeral will be on Thursday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Raeford followed by burial at Tabernacle Baptist Cemetery.

Beatrice Matthews

Beatrice Matthews, 75, of 340 Purvis Court, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013.
Survived by: daughter, Gwendolyn.
The funeral was held Sun. Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. Sunday in Purcell Funeral Home chapel in Laurinburg. Burial was in Serenity Memorial Gardens in Raeford.

La'Quez R. Hunter

La'Quez Raheem Hunter, 20, of 254 Berwick St., died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013.
Survivors are: mother, Bettina Melvin; father, Robert; sister, Diamond Melvin; grandparents, Dorothy, Ada, Richard, Ralph and Charles.
The funeral was held Sun. Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. in Faith Anointed Temple in Red Springs. Burial was in Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church cemetery in St. Pauls.

Mark Beasley

Mark Beasley of Lumber Bridge died Friday, September 27, 2013 at the age of 52.
He was born November 5, 1960 in Cumberland County. He served in the US Coast Guard.
He is survived by his parents Jack and Lorena Corbin Beasley of Cashiers; a brother Jackie (Kara) Beasley of Ohio; and a sister Christi Cain (Harry) of Gray's Creek.
Visitation will be6-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel 131 Harris Ave. Raeford, NC.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Sandy Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
