La'Kendrick J. Johnson II

La'Kendrick Jevon "L.J." Johnson II, of Raeford, died recently.
Survivors are: parents, La'Kendrick Sr. and Tyra; brothers, Isaiah Grimsely and Alijah Dudley; sister, Alaija Dudley; maternal grandmother, Vivian Smith; paternal grandparents, Gilbert and Lisa.
The funeral was held Wed., Sept. 3 at noon in Beauty Sport Missionary Baptist Church in Fayetteville. Burial was in Freedom Chapel AME Zion Church cemetery.

Tami M. Shaw-Ferris

Tami Marie Shaw-Ferris, of Raeford, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2014.
Survivors are; children, Mickal Ferris, Harlen, Rosebud and Kyle; brothers, Creed Paul, Terry, Jeffrey, Micheal and Danny Coontz; sisters, Dorleen Shaw, Sherry Black and Jodi Coontz-Hucks.
The memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 6 at 3 p.m. in Uniontown Chapel of Faith in Hartville, Ohio. Visitation will be held noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church.


Nellie G. Jones

Nellie G. Jones, 70, of 2108 Wilson Road, Red Springs, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014.
Survivors are: husband, Robert; son, Michael; mother, Geneva Money.
The funeral will be held Friday, Sept. 5 at 11 a.m. in Westside Baptist Church. Burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to: Westside Baptist Church, P.O. Box 606, Red Springs.

Marion McRae

Marion McRae, 93, of 243 Hogart St., Raeford, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014.
Survivors are: children, Gloria Burrows, Shirley Skeet, Alexis Smith, Joyce, Ronald, Maggie, Anthony, Lannita and Norman; sister, Elease Williams; brother, George Davis.
The funeral will be held Monday, Sept. 8 at  11 a.m.  in Gilmore's Funeral Home in St. Albans, N.Y. Burial will be  in Calverton Veterans Cemetery in New York.

Annie J. Leak

Annie Jane Leak, 82, of 166 Malloy St., died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014.
Survivors are: children, James, Mary Purcell, Annie Harvey, Willie, John, Mack Graham, Irene Richardson, James, Jennifer and Carlos; and 75 grandchildren.
The funeral was held Sunday, Aug. 31 at 3 p.m. in Mount Carmel Deliverance World Outreach Ministries. Burial was in Highland Biblical Gardens

Lonniell M. Bell

Lonniell M. Bell, 69, of Raeford, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014.
Survivors are: daughters, Gencarol Ray and Kim Morrison; sons, Charles, George and Jovan Morrison; sisters, Melissa White, Edna Peterkin, Gloria Ross, Brenda Dockery, Priscilla Wilson; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Thurs. Sept. 4 at 1 p.m. in Rockfish Grove FWB Church. Burial will be in church cemetery. 
Viewing will be held Sept. 2 from 1 to 7 p.m.  at Doby Funeral Home in Raeford.

Ronald McVicker

Ronald "Ronnie" McVicker of 270 Ivey Street, Raeford died Sunday, August 31, 2014 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital at the age of 72.
He was born in Cumberland County on March 4, 1942. He was a member of the Raeford Evangelical Methodist Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Outlaw (Michael) of Laurel Hill; three sons, Mark McVicker of Raeford, Timothy McVicker of Seven Lakes and Robin McVicker (Dawn) of Chesterfield, South Carolina; the mother of his children, Alice Wood of Rockingham; three sisters, Doris Mahlum (Tom) of California., Virginia Bertram (Kenneth) of Aberdeen and Ann Barnes (Ronnie) of Rockfish; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the Raeford Evangelical Methodist Church with Pastor Roger Burns and Pastor Billy Joe Brady officiating. Burial will be in the Alloway Cemetery.
