Lt. Col. (RET) Robert F. Wagner

Lt. Col. (RET) Robert (Bob) Floyd Wagner, 66 of Whispering Pines, passed away suddenly on September 20, 2015 at his home.

He was born on October 16, 1948 in Aberdeen, Maryland to the late Floyd and Catherine Wagner.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Glenda Dianne Stone Wagner; one son, Michael Patrick Wagner and his wife Christina of Fuquay Varina; one daughter, Jennifer Renee McLaughlin and her husband Kevin of Tampa, Florida; one sister, Kathy Wagner Spies of Aberdeen, Maryland; and four grandchildren, Madison and Caleb Wagner, Mary-Cathryn and Liam McLaughlin.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He had strong faith and amazing values which he passed along to his children.  His love for his country led to a successful career in the United States Army, and after serving for 21 years, he retired in 1988 as a lieutenant colonel.  He was the recipient of many military awards and medals including the Bronze Star for his service in Viet Nam. In 2010 he retired from another successful career as a North Carolina magistrate. In past years he was active in the Republican Men's Club and recently reconnected with the Masons. He enjoyed music, and was an avid runner, finishing two Marine Corps marathons. He is loved by many and will be forever in our hearts.

Services are completed.

Christine Bruton

Christine Bruton (nee: McNeill), a native of Hoke County and wife of Robert E. Bruton, a retired Florida educator who predeceased her, passed away at Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia, on Thursday, September 10, 2015.  She was 92.
She was born in Raeford, N.C. in 1923. She married Robert during WWII. After the war, they settled in Brevard County, Florida. She lived a long and full life as a wife, mother, friend, leader, Bible teacher, newspaper columnist and feature writer, but she was ready and eager for her next step.
Survivors are: children, John Timmons Bruton and wife Carol of Merritt Island and children John, Amy and Beth; Christine Bruton Hickson and husband Maurice of Forest, Virginia and their daughters Kaitlyn and Kasey; Thomas Eugene Bruton and wife Diana of Palm City, Florida, and their sons Robert and Nathaniel.
A memorial service and interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, on Tuesday, Dec 15, 2015, at 1pm in the Old Post Chapel. Ellaree Locklear



Ellaree Locklear, 78, of Raeford, died Friday, September 25, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Robert and Girlie Brooks Locklear; one son, Silas Locklear, Jr.; and one daughter, Linda Ruth Oxendine.
She is survived by her husband Silas Locklear, Sr.; two sons, Jerry Locklear of Raeford and David Locklear of Aberdeen; four daughters, Lela Hunt, Mary Ruth Harris, Patricia Bullard and Stella Locklear all of Raeford; one brother, Robert Locklear of Raeford; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, September 29 at 3 p.m. in Piney Grove Holiness Church. Visitation is Piney Grove Holiness Church, Tuesday, 2 p.m.-3 p.m. Burial will be Piney Grove Holiness Church.


Beulah M. Watson


Beulah Mae Watson, 75, of Raeford, died 9/23/2015.
Survivors are: her daughter Patrice Latosha Watson of the Home; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and 
friends.
The funeral was held Sunday, September, 27 at 2 p.m., Leach Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was in church cemetery.
