Worthy Patterson

Worthy Jefferson Patterson, 96, of 1526 McBryde Mill Road, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012.
Survivors are: daughter, Annie Pleasant; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Saturday, Mar. 10 at  2 p.m. in Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was in church cemetery.

 




Willie Lee Roper

Willie Lee Roper, 92, of Raeford, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012.
Survivors are: children, Annie, Mary Davis, Ruth Armstrong, Betsy Harris, Jennie, Frances Ballard, Doris, Herbert and David; and siblings, Myrtle Sinclair, Margaret Smith, John McNeill, Curtis Smith, Clifton Smith and Rufus Smith.
The funeral was held Sunday, Mar. 11 at 2 p.m. in Buffalo Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was in church cemetery.

June C. Spera

June Connell Spera of 316 E., Donaldson Avenue, died Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the age of 77.
She was born in Union County, North Carolina on March 8, 1935 to the late Charlie Jackson Connell and Amanda Lou Conder Connell. She is preceded in death by her husband Melvin Richard Spera. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Raeford.
Survivors include two sons, Val Spera of Raeford and Richard Spera and his wife Debra of Cross, South Carolina; two brothers, Dale Connell and his wife Mazelle and Tom Connell and his wife Doreen all od Raeford; three grandchildren Kimberly Spera, Arron Spera and his wife Claire and Benjamin and his wife Kelly; and two great grandchildren, Cayden and Matthew Spera.
The family will receive relatives and friends 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012 at the home 316 East Donaldson Ave. Raeford.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Raeford Cemetery with the Rev. Thomas Lee officiating.

Patricia L. Holland

Patricia Lynn "Patsy" Holland of 513 E. Donaldson Avenue died Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center at the age of 45.
She was born in Moore County on November 11, 1966 to the late James William Baxley and Peggy Roberta Helms. She was employed with the Department of Correction at McCain.
Survivors include two daughters, Jodi Holland and Emily Holland, both of Raeford; three brothers, Billy Baxley of Rockingham, Gary Baxley of Alabama, and Dennis Baxley of Raeford; a granddaughter, Chloe Holland; a niece, Rebecca Baxley; and two nephews, Justin and Jacob Baxley.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford, NC.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Raeford Cemetery with the Rev. James D. Wilhide officiating.

Migdalia Rodriguez

Migdalia Rodriguez of 516 N. Main Street, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012 in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst at the age of 83.
She was born on July 21, 1928 in Puerto Rico to the late Rufino Rodriguez and Manuela Rivera.
Survivors include three daughters, Gladys Colon of Bronx, New York, Jenny Colon of Fayetteville, and Doris Rivera and husband Jimmy of Raeford; seven grandchildren, Jacqueline, Kimberly, Desiree, Jennifer, Jonathan, Jeremy, and Destiny; and six great grandchildren, Jarrett, Jaden, Jarin, Kevin II, Sianna, and Kendall.
The family will receive relatives and friends 2-5 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford, NC 28376.

Robert P. Baker Jr.

Robert Patrick "Robbie" Baker, Jr. of 250 Long Street, Southern Pines, died Tuesday, March 06, 2012 in his home at the age of 53.
He was born in Moore County on May 16, 1958. His father, Robert Patrick Baker, Sr, his wife, Terry Wilson Baker and his daughter, Rebecca Lynn Baker preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Duane Baker and wife Athena of Mayadan, Bobby Ross Baker and Lauren of Pinehurst; his mother, Virginia (Bonnie) H. McNeill of Southern Pines; four sisters, Patricia B. Hankins and husband David of Marion, Virginia Elizabeth Scott of Raeford, Debra B. Garner and husband Wayne of Lakeview, Teresa Gail Tant and husband Jimmy of Oak Island; and three grandchildren, Trinity Paige Baker, Mason Cole Baker, and Aubree Nicole Baker.

Victor L. Malloy, 52, of 106 Malloy St., died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012.

Jacqueline Jones, 52, of Raeford, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2012.

Howard (Frank) Palmer

Howard Franklin (Frank) Palmer of 2611 June Johnson Road, died Tuesday, February, 28, 2012 in FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst at the age of 75.
He was born in Lincoln County, NC on January 21, 1937 to the late Frank W. Palmer and Mozelle Martin Palmer. He retired from the US Army and was the former owner and operator of The Nashville Station. He was the owner of Palmer's Mobile Home Park.
Survivors include his wife, Ellie B. Palmer of Raeford; his former wife and the mother of his three children, Celia Palmer; two sons, Wayne Palmer of Fayetteville, and Joey Palmer and wife Pixie of Raeford; a daughter, Kay P. Bohler and husband Carl of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; two step-sons, Richard Pennington and Robbie Pennington and wife Debbie all of Wilmington; a brother, Clyde Palmer of Lincolnton; two sisters, Dorothy Chapman and husband Wayne and Ann Beal and husband Burley, all of Lincolnton; 15 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, March 5, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. at Crumpler Funeral Home-Raeford.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake with the rendering of full military honors.

Nicholas J. Pullman, Jr.

Nicholas "Uncle Nick" Joseph Pullman, Jr., 71, of Raeford died Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
He was born on March 22, 1940 in New Haven, Connecticut to the late Nicholas Pullman, Sr. and Ellen Salvin Pullman. He served 42 years with the Stony Creek Rescue Fire Company 5 in Stony Creek, Connecticut. He was also an active volunteer with Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and a member of the Rockfish Church. He proudly served in the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his son, Nicholas R. Pullman and sister, Ann Sweeney.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Pullman of Raeford; two sons, Sean Pullman and his fiancée, Teresa Knapp of Raeford, and Jeremy Pullman of Branford, Connecticut; a daughter, Melanie Snow of Florida; a brother, Robert Pullman and his wife Shirley of Hamden, Connecticut; a sister, Mary Ammerer of Stony Creek, Connecticut; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
A Memorial Service was held at 6:30, Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Rockfish Church. An additional memorial service will be held at a later date at the W.S. Clancy Funeral Home in Branford, Connecticut.

Loretta Parker

Loretta Parker of 214 Pittman Grove Church Road, died Wednesday, February 29, 2012 in Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center in Fayetteville at the age of 80.
She was born on August 19, 1931 to the late James Council Elkins and Eula Fields Elkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lacy O. Parker, a daughter, Gloria Jean Boahn, and a son, Mitchell Parker.
Survivors include two sons, Melvin Parker and Donald Wayne Parker, both of Raeford; a brother, Liston Elkins and wife Betty of Lumber Bridge; a sister, Faye E. Ward and husband Richard of Greensboro; two grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Alloway Cemetery in Red Springs with the Rev. James D. Wilhide officiating.

Margaret Louise Lide Gaddie, 52, of Raeford, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2012.
Survivors are: husband, Barney; daughters, Leticia and Crystal; sisters, Fannie, Mattie, Martha, Lillian, Christine and Belinda; brothers, Carnell, Vonnie, Larry and Levern; and two grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 1 p.m. in Faith Anointed Temple in Red Springs. Burial will be in Community Rest Cemetery in Red Springs.

Katie R. Odom

Katie Ray Odom, 86, of Salisbury passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Genesis Healthcare in Salisbury. She was born March 21, 1925 in Hoke County to the late W.C. And Sally Johnson Odom. She was a 1943 graduate of Hoke High School. She moved to Rockwell and was a caregiver as long as her health permitted. She was member of Rockwell United Methodist Church and a former resident of White Rock Garden.
She leaves behind a sister, Carol Keilman of Houston, Texas; a brother, Charles Odom and wife Thelma of Rockwell; two nieces, Brenda Keilman and Tina Odom; and one nephew, Eddie Odom.
Burial will take place at a later date at Raeford Cemetery.

Richard Allen Cobbs, 97, of Raeford, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012.
Survivors are: wife, Lillian; children, Wanda Bratcher, Chalmane Everette, Algunia Purcell, Regina Carthens and Jeffery Carthens; siblings, Elizabeth, Betty, John and Amous III; and 24 grandchildren.

Juaquin Eladio Campillo, 57, of Raeford, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012.
Survivors are: wife, Mayra; daughters, Wanda Bratcher, Zuleika, Luisa and Jennifer; sons, Anthony and Joel; sister, Sylvia; and 12 grandchildren.
The  memorial service was held Monday, Feb. 27 at 11 a.m. in Buie Funeral Home in Raeford.
