Thomas Wharton

Thomas E. "Tom" Wharton of Raeford died Tuesday, December 8, 2015 in his home at the age of 71.

He was born in England on April 5, 1944 to the late Robert and Marian Brew Wharton. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War as a helicopter pilot.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Melanie Wharton of Raeford; his sons, Scot Wharton of Texas, Dennis Scott and his wife, Beth of Arizona, Todd Scott and his wife, Rebecca of Raeford, Nathan Scott and his wife, Melanie of Washington State; one daughter, Amanda Diaz of California; and 15 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

James N. Culbreth

James "Jim" Norman Culbreth, Jr. 57 of Raeford passed away on Monday, December 1, 2015 in his home. Jim was born April 25, 1958 in Wayne Co., N.C. to Hazel Johnson and the late James Norman Culbreth, Sr.
Survivors are: wife, Carolyn Bryant Culbreth of the home; daughter, Julia Lounsbury and husband Joshua of Raeford; mother, Hazel Hardin of Fayetteville; step-daughters, Jackie Bain Harman and husband Perry of Morgantown, West Virginia and Kim Bain Weaver and husband "J.K." of Savannah, Ga.; brother, Robert Louis Culbreth of Fayetteville; granddaughter, Jeni Kay Lounsbury and 6 step-grandchildren.

Frank Gladhill

  Frank Henry Gladhill, Jr of Raeford died Tuesday December 1, 2015 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst , NC at the age of 92.

 He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on August 31,1923. He was the son of Frank H. Gladhill, Sr. and ZourieSpielman Gladhill. He was married to Constance Ann Kinterwho passed on September 13, 2009.

He served in the US Navy as an ElectronicTechnician, 2"d Class on the USS Markah, a cruiser tender operating in the Pacific from 1944 through 1946. After he was discharged he attended Texas A&M and Carnegie Institute ofTechnology where he received his degree as a MechanicalEngineer.

His earlier career was working on instrument systems for aircraft companies. Then he worked on water filtration systems with Hagen Chemical and Controls and Tryon Inc. His last position was at Bechtel International as a Nuclear Power Plant Startup Consultant. He retired from there in 1989, purchased land in Raeford and built 2 chicken houses and for many years raised chickens for Perdue, earning several awards as a top producer. He served as an Elder at Shiloh Presbyterian Church in Raeford until 2014.

He is survived by his sister, Jane Pugh of Chambersburg, Pa.;two daughters, Donnalee McDonald

{Patrick) of Aberdeen, and Patricia Boyette of NewLondon, NJ. One grandson, Jeffrey Barnes of Neptune, NJ, twoGreat- grandsons, Joshua Barnes and Zachary Barnes both ofNeptune, NJ; one Great­ great-grandson, Noah Barnes ofNeptune, NC. He has two Nieces in Penna., Nancy Grove(Ron) and Linda Davis (Gary) and many grand nieces andnephews.

A visitation will be from 12:30 -2:00 pm Friday, December 4, 2015 at Crumpler Funeral Home 131 Harris Ave. Raeford, NC.

The funeral will be held at 2:00pm at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel.

 

He  will be buried at Jefferson Memorial Cemeteryin Pittsburgh, Pa.

Lewis King

Lewis King of Raeford, died Friday, November 20, 2015.
Survivors are: his wife, Rose N. Lewis; children Robert Edwards, Elwood Edwards, Yvonne King and Anthony King; sisters Rosa Ann King, Willie Mae King, Yvonne King, Carolyn King, Wanda King; Aunts Etta Mae Lawrence, Remona Carrington; Nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday, November 28 at 1 p.m. in Buie Funeral Home Chapel.



Marion Steward

Marion Steward, 62, of Raeford, died Monday, November 23, 2015.
Survivors are: children; Andre Steward, Shariese Lindsay, Jason Steward; Mother Ms. Doris Jackson; Sisters Sharon Grimes (Joe) and Patricia Smith-Pope (Earl); brother Broadway Jackson, II (Linda); Aunt Amanda Buie Leamus and thirteen grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Nov. 28 at 2 p.m. in Kingdom Hall Of Jehovah's Witnesses.

 



George Fax

George Fax, 74, of Raeford, died Saturday, November 21, 2015.
Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Margaret McKinnon Fax; children Dwight McRae (Sharon) and Greta Faye Ross (Tyronny); sisters Pearl Chirty (Crawford) and Wahseela Hoke; brothers
John Fax (Addie) and Issac Fax; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Sunday Nov. 29 at 1 p.m., Buie Funeral Home Chapel, Raeford.
