Horace M. Hayes

Horace Mitchell Hayes of Raeford died Monday, May 30, 2016 in Open Arms Retirement Center at the age of 72.

He was born in Robeson County on January 31, 1944 to the late Albert and Veda Britt Hayes. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Vernell and Jessie. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and retired from the County of Hoke.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Nixon Hayes of Raeford; his sons, Heath M. Hayes of Raeford, and Garrett J. Hayes of Fayetteville; and his grandchildren, Greyson Hayes and Hayden Hayes.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel with David Shirley officiating. Inurnment will be in the Shiloh Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Joe Edwards

Joe Edwards, Jr. of Raeford, died in his home Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the age of 82.

Hes was born November 6, 1933 in Bladen County, NC, to the late Joseph Edwards, Sr. and Lou Cindy Pait Edwards. He served in the US Army and loved serving the Lord.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Shirley J. Edwards of Raeford; 1 daughter, Rhonda Edwards of Raeford; 5 sons, Joel Edwards (Paula) of Bladenboro, Tim Edwards of Raeford, David Edwards (Jan) of Whiteville, Kevin Edwards ( Pati) of Four Oaks, and Glenn Edwards (Yvonne) of Raeford; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Church of God of Prophecy with Reverend Randall Snead officiating. Burial was at Raeford Cemetery.
